Mary received no crown.

Rev. 12:1

She received salvation by unmerited grace through faith in Christ, just like all Bible-believing Christians do.

Luke 1:28 - "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you." These are the words spoken by God and delivered by the angel Gabriel (who is a messenger of God).

In our Church, when the priest finishes proclaiming the Gospel, he elevates the Book of the Gospels and says: This is the Truth! . And so it is.

This is an ecumenical thread. Not the place for criticism of other faiths. Take it to an open thread.

You said: "Honestly, I don’t care much about what Protestants believe. And I don’t care what Protestants believe I believe."

I say: Thank You, I believe the same.

Wow! Another blessed, calm & collected Catholic thread.

I just don't know what we'd do without all the non-Catholic FReeper Catholicism “experts” to explain & criticize our religion. LOL

Hope you all have a happy & blessed Feast of the Assumption.

Semper Fi,
Kelly

A lot of people do not believe in Holy Tradition. Nebertheless, here is a tidbit from Holy Tradition.

According to one tradition, Mary was warned of her approaching end by Saint Michael the Archangel, who conducts souls to Heaven, and was surrounded on her death-bed by the apostles, who were miraculously transported to her bedside from their various mission-fields. It was said that Jesus appeared, bore away her soul, and returned three days after her burial, when angels carried her body to Paradise where it was reunited with her soul under the Tree of Life.

Maybe only St. John saw it and then told others about it. Early writings say John went to live at Ephesus and Mary accompanied him. No city ever claimed the relics of her remains. Maybe it was such a well known story that no one saw the need to write it down.

She was pretty humble. Maybe she asked that it happen quietly.

Maybe the Holy Spirit wanted it left ambiguous. It’s a leap of faith, like the Eucharist.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe no one knows where the original Ark of the Covenant is either. Coincidence?

Or maybe John was drawing a distinction between ascending and being assumed. It seems to me ascending implies power and assumption is passive.

John was also the caretaker of Mary—and in a way, Jesus’ best friend on earth. If anyone had witnessed her assumption, he would have. Yet in John’s epistles (also written late)...not a word about Mary, let alone her spectacular assumption.
