Indeed. The Accrued culture-anthropological baggage involved is something rightly worthy of study by various humanities departments. Too bad they waste their time, money and effort in propagation of cultural marxism instead of studying stuff.

A very interesting article. I have always presumed that the deacon who proclaimed the Gospel in Greek at JPII’s funeral, most probably came from the monastery at Grottaferrata. This would be the Byzantine Catholic Church. As you may recall, following the proclamation, the deacon carried the Book of the Gospels to Cardinal Ratzinger who elevated it and blessed all assembled. Interestingly enough, I have noticed Pope Benedict XVI now does this at all of the masses where he presides. This gesture is typical of the Eastern Catholic liturgies.
