Pope meets with Muslim scholars, urges better ties

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Christians and Muslims must overcome their misunderstandings, Pope Benedict XVI told Muslim clergy and scholars Thursday as he pressed for greater freedom of worship for non-Muslims in the Islamic world.

...."We are here precisely with the hope of attaining peace between Christianity and Islam," Seyyed Hossein Nasr, a professor of Islamic studies at George Washington University, told the pope.

“What can we do to improve relations with the Muslim Community?”

Die or convert is the most likely answer. Negotiations to any other goal is a waste of time.

Misunderstandings? I would say its the Pope that has a severe misunderstanding of Islam if he thinks that the differences between Islam and Christianity are misunderstandings.

Maybe he's talking about the idea that Catholics and Muslims worship the same God. Oops, my bad. That's the Pope's misunderstanding.
