Your daily prayer thread is truly inspiring, and moving.
I pray for my Nation, that she survive the coming administration as she has survived previous administrations both good and no-so-good.
I pray for President-elect Obama as I prayed for President Bush and President Clinton before him, that he may have his eyes opened and his mind cleared and his heart made true by the grace of God, to see what is right and good, and act accordingly.
I pray for my fellow Americans, that we may find the strength and courage to do what will be necessary in the days and years ahead, to put our great Nation on steadier feet, and move to greater achievement, and to help the cause of peace. We do not seek war, but if we must wage war, I pray that we do so with honor and that we are victorious.
I try not to pray for things, or for outcomes. I try to pray for understanding, for wisdom, for clarity, for peace of mind.
God's grace is beyond my understanding, but I ask it, for Barack Obama, for our other Presidents and leaders, for all Americans, for myself.
And, dear Blogger, especially for you, who shows such wisdom and humility. Thank you.
Thank you for your beautiful words and for your prayer. There is a lot of wisdom in what you prayed...particularly about not praying for outcomes.
It is always challenging for us when we realize we aren’t God and that He doesn’t always think like we do. We know His ways are perfect; but sometimes His actions are beyond that which we can comprehend. So, we just trust Him to work everything out in His own way and time. Not sure what that means for our nation right now, but I don’t know that we are to know that piece of the puzzle just yet.
Again, thank you for your kindness and humble spirit.
