Bowling for Columbine did it to the gun culture.
Super Size Me did it to fast food.
Now The God Who Wasn't There does it to religion.
The movie that has been astounding audiences in theaters around the world is now available on a high-quality, feature-packed DVD. Own the taboo-shattering documentary that Newsweek says "irreverently lays out the case that Jesus Christ never existed."

I do not have to be part of it.
Much more accurate.
Why do they never interview people like Rev. Wright or Jesse Jackson when movies like this come out?

No thank you. I don't think I want to have this "taboo-shattering" lie from hell, laying around my house when the Son of God comes a callin'...
In this case the word "irreverently" is aptly used.
'Blasphemously' would also have fit.
Well, the first two were shown to be frauds, not the best examples to use when promoting your ignorance.
Interesting timing. Well, the God-haters won’t have Christians to kick around (or restrain the evil) much longer....
Well I’ve got a newsflash for these geniuses, Jesus Christ was, is, and always shall be King of kings and Lord of lords, He is the Beginning and the End, the First and Last, the Alpha and the Omega, His Kingdom shall never fall, and those fools who choose to believe otherwise will be crapping their pants when Jesus Christ returns exactly as He said He would, and there is nothing or nobody that is going to prevent His Return.
And it’s going to be sooner than anyone thinks.
Just in time for Christmas! These people are pathetic.
“..Newsweek says “irreverently lays out the case that Jesus Christ never existed.”
Hey dumbass Newsweek, ever heard of Eusebius the Jewish historian?
So many outspoken, public atheists actually think they are exceptionally intelligent, informed, and decent. The “decent” part is particularly questionable. However, nothing that this film poses is new to most Christians. It’s just nothing but a cheap shot at shock ratings.
These kinds of guys are simply fools, as the Bible calls them... And, it’s another one, in a long list, of “signs” of the soon return of Jesus Christ...
I got a good chuckle out of this:
“Richard Carrier, historian and author of Sense and Goodness Without God”
A historian who thinks people have natural sense and goodness? Right! Human sense and goodness is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of human history. I might get the book just to watch him struggle inside a paper bag. The reviews mention a few of his really stupid ideas and non sequiturs.
Has there been a single atheist philosopher since David Hume who wasn’t stupid as hell?
Let them keep believing that. One thing they can’t deny, they will DEFINITELY find out.
Let me know when sales reach 10% of Mel Gibson’s “Passion of Christ.”
What God wants. Philosopher Richard Carrier performs a thought experiment in which he asks, if there is a God, what does he want? The results are both hilarious and difficult to dispute.Freeper Zero Sum performs a thought experiment in which he asks, if there is no God, what is the intrinsic value of the clump of matter that is labelled Richard Carrier? The results are both hilarious (in a morbid, ironic sort of way) and difficult to dispute.
Who needs God to be good? Author Sam Harris disputes the notion that morality has any relationship to dogma."I have read your Manuscript with some Attention. By the Arguments it contains against the Doctrine of a particular Providence, tho you allow a general Providence, you strike at the Foundation of all Religion: For without the Belief of a Providence that takes Cognizance of, guards and guides and may favour particular Persons, there is no Motive to Worship a Deity, to fear its Displeasure, or to pray for its Protection. I will not enter into any Discussion of your Principles, tho you seem to desire it; At present I shall only give you my Opinion that tho your Reasonings are subtle, and may prevail with some Readers, you will not succeed so as to change the general Sentiments of Mankind on that Subject, and the Consequence of printing this Piece will be a great deal of Odium drawn upon your self, Mischief to you and no Benefit to others. He that spits against the Wind, spits in his own Face. But were you to succeed, do you imagine any Good would be done by it? You yourself may find it easy to live a virtuous Life without the Assistance afforded by Religion; you having a clear Perception of the Advantages of Virtue and the Disadvantages of Vice, and possessing a Strength of Resolution sufficient to enable you to resist common Temptations. But think how great a Proportion of Mankind consists of weak and ignorant Men and Women, and of inexperiencd and inconsiderate Youth of both Sexes, who have need of the Motives of Religion to restrain them from Vice, to support their Virtue, and retain them in the Practice of it till it becomes habitual, which is the great Point for its Security; And perhaps you are indebted to her originally that is to your Religious Education, for the Habits of Virtue upon which you now justly value yourself. You might easily display your excellent Talents of reasoning on a less hazardous Subject, and thereby obtain Rank with our most distinguishd Authors. For among us, it is not necessary, as among the Hottentots that a Youth to be receivd into the Company of Men, should prove his Manhood by beating his Mother. I would advise you therefore not to attempt unchaining the Tyger, but to burn this Piece before it is seen by any other Person, whereby you will save yourself a great deal of Mortification from the Enemies it may raise against you, and perhaps a good deal of Regret and Repentance. If Men are so wicked as we now see them with Religion what would they be if without it?" -Benjamin Franklin
“We are the people we’ve been waiting for.”
- Barack Obama
A historian who thinks people have natural sense and goodness? What I want to know is what he means by "goodness" in the first place? My guess would be the sense of right and wrong that he inherited by being raised in a society with a heavily Christian ethos.
