Fr. Roy Bourgeois Publicly Rejects the Magisterium; Excommunication Looms

However, all that changed on August 9th when Fr. Bourgeois chose to become a “concelebrant” and homilist at the attempted ordination to the priesthood of Janice Sevre-Duszynska. The attempted “ordination” occurred at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington, Ky.

Now, Fr. Bourgeois has decided to engage in a new crusade, one which involves public and direct defiance of the Holy See and a repudiation of the unbroken teaching of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church concerning sacred ordination.

According to a letter which Fr. Bourgeois released to the Press, he has received a letter from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. It gave him a certain period of days within which he was to recant his “belief and public statements that support the ordination of women in our Church, or (he) will be excommunicated.” This action followed the priests public rejection of efforts from the leadership within his own religious community to return him to fidelity with the teaching of the Catholic Church.

Pretty much once a week for the last 1900+ years someone has tried to re-interpret Catholic Doctrine to their own liking, and create their own new false religion.

Nothing new here.

I wish the Pope would move faster on these nutcases. But, I am an outsider.

I’m not Catholic, so pardon my ignorance here: Aren’t there certain acts that, in Catholic teaching, are said to cause an *automatic* excommunication of the person committing them? If so, isn’t this sort of deliberate, “I know my bishop and the Pope say not to do this as a violation of the faith, but I’m gonna do it anyway” action one of such acts?

According to a letter which Fr. Bourgeois released to the Press, he has received a letter from the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Formerly known as the "Sacred Congregation of the Universal Inquisition", or just "The Inquisition". It was previously headed by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, sometimes known as "the Pope's enforcer" and/or "God's rottweiler". Cardinal Ratzinger has since become Pope Benedict XVI.

Yes. But its public nature requires an official excommunication, which is normal. Otherwise other people may be misled by the apparent acquiescence of the Church.

He will become just another heretic or schismatic, without offical standing. People like that are a dime a dozen.

And after much prayer, reflection and discernment, it is my conscience that compels me to do the right thing. I cannot recant my belief and public statements that support the ordination of women in our Church.

Certainly being true to your conscience is normally a good thing. But your conscience can mislead you.

But dear Father did you not at your ordination take a vow before God of obedience to the Catholic Church, your bishop and his Holiness the Pope.

I think Father that your soul is in mortal danger. There is in the Bible a warning against making vows to God because such vows are taken very seriously by God.

About time that this communist was thrown out of the Church. He has been associating with the communists in the marxist “liberation theology” movement in Central American for decades, including those who killed Americans.

Time for this red to ride the religious rail to hell.

His arguments, while trendy, are very weak. Sexism is not the reason that women cannot become priests, sexuality is.

Men cannot give birth for the same reason. It is not oppressive, it is that giving birth is not males stated purpose for being. They have a different, and equally valuable part to play, but it is not giving birth.

People who make such unreasonable demands are very quick to insist that their faith is strong. Yet they disprove themselves by demonstrating that their faith is weak, and that they are contentious, not respectful and not humble.

It is not surprising that such great egos often decide to rewrite even gospel to fit their tastes, changing the parts they don’t like, and “correcting” passages to support their wild theories.

Fr. Bourgeois should just grow up, start thinking for himself, self-emancipate and become a Protestant.
