May he rest in peace. Sympathies to his family and other loved ones, and best wishes to the Russian Orthodox Church during their transition to a new leader.

Thanks. Interesting article. I like reading about the other branches and their heads, like
Pope Shenouda III.

Prayers for the repose of his soul in the loving arms of the Almighty forever, and for the consolation of those he led. Prayers for them in this time of transition.

Shocking news. Alexei was a lion in defense of traditional morality. Prayers for his soul.

Was this unexpected? May God grant his Church in Russia a strong and courageous head after the passing of this good patriarch. And may we, East and West, continue to move towards the unity Christ desires.

Vjecnaja pamjat! Memory eternal!
It seems that several local Orthodox Churches have been having changes in leadership recently, or soon will be having such changes—the Church of Romania, the Orthodox Church in America, and now the Church of Russia. In the Church of Serbia, Patriarch Pavle is gravely ill and in the hospital. He asked to be removed, but his fellow heirarchs asked him to stay on.

Was this unexpected? No, he had heart problems since 2002 and has spent many time in hospital since that time. He died 79 years old...
During his primatehood he managed to unite the Moscow Patriarchate with the Russian Church abroad, many new monsteries and parishes emerged in Russia.
To: NYer
Is this the event which will lead to their rejoining the Roman Catholic Church. Prayers abounding.

Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon him. A hymn befits thee, O God of Zion, and a vow will be fulfilled unto thee in Jerusalem. Hear my prayer: to thee shall all flesh come. Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon him.
