L.A. Episcopal Diocese Wants Gays to be Bishops

Sunday, December 7, 2008 11:31 AM

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- The Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles has joined seven other dioceses in passing a resolution asking the church to let gays and lesbians become bishops.

The vote Friday at the church's 113th annual Diocesan Convention rejected the Episcopal Church's de facto moratorium on the election of gay or lesbian bishops.

The resolution will be forwarded for consideration at the July 2009 national convention in Anaheim.

The Anglican schism is in full swing, and the conservatives have formed the Anglican Church of North America. Both they and the liberal Episcopalians still claim membership in the Anglican communion, however.

And nothing will be resolved until the schism is complete, and the liberal dioceses have been given their walking papers.

Perhaps the Anglican synod will request Queen Elizabeth II to formally divide the churches. This would be interesting, as it would be a concurrent split of the Church of England, as she holds the title of “Supreme Governor of the Church of England.” This would also probably be definitive for Canada and Australia as well.

It’s now been steadily shrinking ever since they began being “with it” as opposed to heeding the Word.

They turn their back on He whose divinity is supposedly their reason for being.

These days more leadership in the Anglican movement comes out of Africa than out of England or the United States.

It goes all the way back to when they decided to take “Onward Christian Soldiers” of their hymnal.

Just as a stab in the dark, but are these diocese predominantly white? By that I mean, liberal rats.

Romans: "For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged the natural sexual relations for unnatural ones, and likewise the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed in their passions for one another."

I must be a little lacking in creativity. I can't reconcile celebrating that behavior with being a Christian role model.

The answer would be yes. Every Episcopal Church I've seen was very white, with a smattering of Obama-like economically-up-and-coming blacks too.

“Mayhbe they should have the proud, the greedy, and the angry as bishops as well.”

They already got plenty of those, from the Presiding Bishopess down.
