"The written standards of the denomination are precisely correct, but they are largely ignored," stated the Rev. Michael Neubert of the Presbytery of Southeastern Illinois, according to Presbyweb, a daily news source for Presbyterians. "And so, quoting the standard is pointless."

It's a year-old article, but I thought it was worth posting despite it's age.

"Although salvation through Jesus Christ is true for the Presbyterians, they can't say that it's true for everybody, Weaver summed up."

Ah yes, the apostate church embraces the soteriology of Oprah Winfrey. It is, after all, the "religion" of our day. More signs of the time....

Last time I checked out thier web site it said something to the effect that its members should support gun control laws. Any denomination that delves into crap like that has become a tool of the state.

It’s gotten much worse since then. The last General Assembly passed a resolution that would completely remove any sort of moral standards for being ordained a minister, elder or deacon. Although intended to legalize homosexuals being ordained, it would also permit any other sort of sexual immorality (adultery, fornication, incest, multiple relationships, etc.).

If it is ratified by a majority of presbyteries, I predict the denomination will disintegrate and cease to be.

As far as the ordination of homosexuals, I'm sure there are probably homosexual pastors that do a fine job and that no one knows they are homosexual.

The difference is in those cases where the person in question announces their homosexuality. Just as with the homosexuals in the Boy Scouts and in the military, once you announce your homosexuality, you are, in fact, announcing that of the two issues (leadership or homosexuality) homosexuality (and public acceptance of it) is the priority.

The PC(USA) is far more "pc" than orthodox and has become such a paper shell covering of its John Knox origens that I left the ministry over two years ago and have been attending a Reformed Baptist African-American church ever since. Who knew that combining Calvin with celebratory emotion could be so satisfying...

[you may not remember me, but if so, just check with anyone from the GRPL...] ;^)
