St. Judes, the local gay church in Wilmington, NC, is one of those churches that makes me glad Im not a liberal Christian. Some years ago, they ran an advertisement that read Whatever you believe, we embrace you.
When I saw that whatever you believe ad, I was tempted to go to St. Judes one Sunday and tell them I thought the Holocaust was a good idea and that I liked cooking cats in a microwave oven. I just wanted to see whether they actually bought into moral relativism a philosophy so vacuous that only college professors deem it useful.
Today, St. Judes seems to have softened its stance on wide-open whatever you believe moral relativism. Their website now actually lists several core values, which I assume means something like absolute truths. Heres what the website says specifically:
St. Jude's is committed to expanding our Core Values into the community. We are: Christ-Centered - Holy Spirit Led, (We are) God's Love in Action, (We) Celebrate LGBTQ & Straight individuals and families.
Its a good thing the St. Jude gay church talks about certain truths or core values because that is what St. Jude himself talked about in verse three of his one-chapter epistle in the New Testament:
Dearly loved friends, I had been planning to write you some thoughts about the salvation God has given us, but now I find I must write of something else instead, urging you to stoutly defend the truth which God gave, once for all, to his people to keep without change through the years.
In other words, St. Jude was concerned that people were going to come along and start to change things that were clearly prohibited by the Bible. Maybe even celebrate them. And for those who think the New Testament preaches only forgiveness - in contrast to the Old Testament emphasis on punishment take a look at the very next verse of St. Judes epistle:
I say this because some godless teachers have wormed their way in among you, saying that after we become Christians we can do just as we like without fear of Gods punishment. The fate of such people was written long ago, for they have turned against our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
I doubt all of the people at St. Judes heavily gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered church have read verse seven of Judes epistle, which is quoted here in the Living Bible translation:
And dont forget the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, all full of lust of every kind including lust of men for other men. Those cities were destroyed by fire and continue to be a warning to us that there is a hell in which sinners are punished.
So this is interesting. By actually celebrating homosexuality as opposed to say, ignoring it the St. Jude congregation is actually driving congregants towards damnation. An argument could be made for classifying this church as a hate group.
But, of course, the real St. Jude doesnt think we should reach out to gays with anything like hate speech. In verse twenty-three he urges that we approach them with both kindness and caution:
Save some by snatching them as from the very flames of hell itself. And as for others, help them to find the Lord by being kind to them, but be careful that you yourselves arent pulled along into their sins. Hate every trace of their sin while being merciful to them as sinners.
One of my readers recently told me in an argument about post-marital sex that it was OK for him to be in favor and for me to be opposed. His reasoning was that he is a liberal Christian and I am a conservative Christian. Of course, what my reader really meant was that being a liberal Christian means having one set of rules for himself and another set of rules for everyone else.
Maybe its time for liberal Christians to get their own set of epistles. Maybe they should get their own set of Saints as well.
Well, FWIW, cats are much better on the grill.
“...Why do the queers not invent their own religion and write their own scriptures?..”
That is what is slowly happening, only many people won’t be able to immediately tell the difference between the two.
I wonder how Mrs. Adams feels about his opposition to "post-marital sex."
“Why do the queers not invent their own religion and write their own scriptures?”
...with their own Saints. Puh-leeze.
Why do they have to misappropriate good old St. Jude?
Can’t they have a St. Gianni Versace or St. Freddy Mercury??
They’re not looking to invent. They’re looking to destroy.
In the building in NYC where the National Council of Churches used to be is an occult bookstore called The Magikal Child. It admonishes all “bigots” not to enter. Only those who accept everyone may enter. So, the implied message is that Hell accepts everyone.
As a side note, it’s probably one of the best decorated churches in the area....
An interesting notion about the corrupt is that they are actually afraid of their own beliefs. Even they, for the most part, grasp that corruption is, well, corruption. Wallowing in a sewer. Living in a state of disgust and swinish excess.
What they really want is to live and be sloppy in a “clean house”, but not have to clean up after themselves. And they want to be admired for being slobs, to have others want to be slobs as well. But only as long as there is still cleanliness around, that the others who admire them still keep the place clean, and not actually become slobs.
Thus they have a great desire to corrupt others, but shun them if they accept. Innocence is great if it can be ruined, but the result should be discarded like used tissue paper.
An interesting example of this is when Californians leave their State because they are sick of the filth, porn, greed, drugs, etc., and move to a rural town in Utah. They have a huge, expensive house built for themselves, and ten minutes later are bored to death. They miss the porn, they want their drugs, the “night life”, licentiousness, etc., but not enough to want to return to California. Instead, they want to bring these things to rural Utah.
Needless to say, the Utahans are not particularly thrilled with the idea.
This makes the Californians angry. How *dare* the Utahans be so *prudish* and “stuck-up”, and try to “force their values” on the Californian newcomers, and not let them molest their children.
It is interesting how this idea can be extrapolated throughout much of our society. For example, the liberals in the Episcopal church are horrified with the notion of a schism with the conservatives, because the liberal Episcopalians know that on their own, without the conservatives, the liberal church will wither and die. Instead they want the conservatives to finance their weird beliefs, and enjoy the idea of forcing new perverse doctrines on them.
It’s also not surprise that pro-abortion “Catholics” still call themselves “Catholics”, even though they utterly reject the doctrines of the church to the point of being atheists.
Conservative clergy point to a number of Bible verses, including Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13, 1 Corinthians 6:9 and 1 Timothy 1:9-10 as demonstrating that homosexual conduct is sin, against God's will.
The Metropolitan Community Church, at its Web site, argues that such verses are cited out of cultural context. Citing biblical scholars, it describes the sin of Sodom in Genesis 19 as inhospitality to strangers, not sodomy. It notes that the Old Testament laws of Leviticus also banned other behaviors, such as eating pork, oysters and shrimp, that modern Christians tolerate.
MCC commentaries cite other passages, such as Romans 14:14 ("I know and am persuaded of the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean of itself
") and suggest that some figures of the Bible, such as David and Jonathan or Ruth and Naomi, may have entered homosexual unions.
Dumb question.
Is the National Council of Churches a real organization or a secular humanist straw man??
Post-marital sex is a myth. ;-)

Poor Mrs. Adams ... and Mike seems like such a cutie, too.
Mike Adams said it beautifully.
As a cat owner, I am deeply offended at such snide remarks about cats. Cats are cute, playful, and adorable little creatures. They are good at keeping rats and mice away, and they are good hunters.
You need to get out more. It was a joke.
