The Catholic Church has a pro-life coordinator in most Dioceses -- so the Catholic Church by itself could help stage such a event -- especially with the help of the Knights of Columbus, and activism by local priests and religious (nuns and brothers).

Please forgive the vanity, but I want to make this an issue during the time of the March for Life.

This is an attempt to get FreeRepublic to be a Leadership Site -- i.e. -- help with leading the prolife movement...

Currently, Life Chains are set for the 1st Sunday in October.

There is also an alternate Sunday (in the case of scheduling problems).

We in the Diocese of Harrisburg have a pro life coordinator and each church has 1 or 2 coordinators for the parish.

I and a young woman (I'm old) put together Life Chain for tomorrow. We have our local parish as the background and a base to work from

We are the Citizens Concerned for Human Life and are part of the Pro Life Federation Of Pennsylvania. We are a 501 Corp. and we are not allowed to politic. It is why the Church likes our approach. We are filed as an educational group. Which means we can make the people aware of the pro abortion agenda of certain individuals but we can't tell people who to vote for or against.

In the years I have been involved I have had 1 non Catholic clergy voice a pro life. We have over 150 Churches in our area and each gets a letter and a phone call.

Our two priests are very active. In today's local paper the pastor wrote a two column article discussing Life Chain and people's participation

We are the only participants in our area. I have noticed the women clergy in several non Catholic Churches commenting positively about “Free Choice”

I don't know about the “Catholic Church's staging the event”.

What is needed is for the lay people to listen to their conscience and participate.
