You stopped short. There is more to Isa than you just wrote and therein may lie your inability to understand the fuss.
So, just when I thought I could say "amen," it happened. Warren said "I humbly ask this in the name of the one who changed my life, Yeshua, Isa, Jesus [Spanish pronunciation], Jesus, who taught us to pray, "Our father who art in Heaven..." Opppsss. Wait a minute. I should have known that it was too good to be true. Yeshua and Jesus - great! "Isa" - not so much.
... Warren's use of the name of Isa, the false Jesus of Islam, was a glaring slap in the face to all that he had already prayed. "Isa" in no way represents the Jesus of the Bible but is instead the false Jesus of the Qur'an (Koran) and the Muslim Hadith.
"Isa" (pronounced "eee-sa") is the Islamic Jesus who was but a prophet and who certainly did not experience a sacrificial death on a cross let alone resurrect from the dead. In fact, in Islam the prophet Isa is actually the destroyer of Christianity - not it's Savior. Obviously, this is simply NOT the same Jesus as is Yeshua.

The fuss is that the Lord warned against following after false christs and a pastor has no business elevating the name of the false jesus of Islam before the world.

As a born-again Christian, I have never recognized Warren as a fellow believer.
However, my opinion doesn’t count; it’s between him and God, or him and Satan.
Amos, you know I love you but—I was responding to a post that sounded like a Popeye quote. I think God has a sense of humor (he made me after all). It doesn’t meant I don’t *get* the gravity of the situation. Of course, I also know that HE is in control, and I trust that He is going to take care of everything.

The god of the Koran is not the God of the Bible. The Koran's god is more closely related to one of the graven images for which the people of Israel were punished for worshipping.

Which bible would that be? Rev. Rick uses, so I read, whatever bible version suits him.
In my Bible, when asked his Name by Moses, G-d replied,
“I AM WHO AM”
G-d then instructed Moses to tell his people that “HE WHO IS” has sent Moses to deliver them from the land of Egypt.
This seems, IMO, to coincide with Jesus declaring to the Pharisees,
“Before Abraham was, I am.”
Allah is a deceiving spirit, certainly not the God of the Bible. Some think Allah is just a sand jinn. I think it’s Baal, myself.
This “Isa” of the Koran did not die on the cross, and did not rise on the third day. Therefore, “Isa” is the very definition of an anti-Christ.
And there stood Rick Warren, so needy of worldly approval, invoking the name of an anti-Christ, in prayer.

You could be right. But, there are a lot of things that would have to occur in an extremely rapid manner.
Your belief in pretrib rapture is mistaken, imho. It’s not a debate that could endanger anyone’s salvation, though, so it’s not a point to argue strenuously. I do think people should prepare themselves, though. Christians will live through, and many die in, the tribulation, as far as I’ve been able to understand.
In a practical sense, it makes little difference: things will be plenty bad before the “great escape” no matter whether you are pre, post, or mid...
I did not know this information about the word “Isa.” However, I want to say why I was extremely excited about Warren’s prayer. He prayed the “Lord’s Prayer.” As he prayed it, I prayed it in the gym of our public school, and marveled that I was praying it aloud in the midst of hundreds of people. It was exhilarating!

If you're not aware of what a joke is, that whole humor thing must be very confusing for you.

The NKJV of the translation of the Bible translate James 5:11b as “-that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.”
But that statement is also related to one of the false god Allah's most holy names in Islam. And is at the beginning of every chapter of the Qur’an (except one) and is used as an invocation.

With all the titles Warren could have addressed the Lord by after the Shema he chose one that could be interspersed with Islam and Allah. What are the chances that particular phrase was connected to the Shema by Warren and he was unaware of its connection with the Qur’an? Then he ends his prayer not with Jesus Christ but with a list of names for “Jesus” minus his Messianic title. And one of them was Isa the jesus of Islam.

Isa is not Jesus...Rick should have skipped Isa and used 'Allah' in it's place...The muzlims then would have understood what Rick was trying to imply...But then Rick may have gotten back-handed by someone close by...
Of course it's possible Rick Warren doesn't know the difference betwen Jesus and Isa, as so many religous folk here in the U.S...
I can't judge Warren's heart only his actions. His actions tell me he has been to Syria, which leads me to believe he read up on his Islamic terminology. He is also a board member of Tony Blair's ecumenical “Faith Foundation”. Tony Blair recently announced that he reads the Qur’an regularly. It will be very hard for Warren to play dumb on this issue.
He’s also a member of the Council of Foreign Relations which takes an slightly above average I.Q..

My apologies for sounding overbearing. I was looking for a pst in response to which I could make my point. You seemed the most likely. The thought was not directed at you but was an attempt to insert a moment of severe gravity.
Love you right back. The Lord is, indeed, in control, but perhaps not of the economy or other human devices. These are our little traps that we lay for ourselves. Right now it appears those who oppose His dominion are in control.

Warren has always been more into himself than anything else. Since he has already bilked a lot of evangelicals out of their money, he is looking to get into the Islamic market.
