You seem very knowledgeable. How long is a "generation" in the Bible? I remember reading a book by Hal Lindsey back in the '70s, and he took that verse to mean that the 1980s would be the last decade of human history. I've also heard it said that as long as anyone is still alive who was alive at the time of Israel's rebirth, "this generation" is not considered to have passed away. Since some people live to be over 100, that would indicate the Rapture won't be for a while yet. Lately it does seem as though the signs of the End Times are increasing at a fast pace.
Psalms tells us that a man shall live 3 score and 10, and if by strength 4 score...
So 70 years as the rule of thumb.
1948 + 70 + or - = 2018ish, give or take.
Thats for the second coming. The tribulation would start 7 years before that.
Also a generation could mean the last person still living when Christ returns, from when Israel was reborn. So I guess we could stretch it out maybe another 30 years.
I think that to mean that Israel will not cease to be again until that time. I could be wrong, but if I recall correctly “generation” meant something different from what we, today, take it to mean.
Perhaps someone whose Latin is a bit better than mine can explain how or if the meaning was lost in transliteration.
