I posted a thread about it a day or two back. Lynch said he was more concerned about the level of vitriolic rhetoric surrounding the issue than the actual invitation.
When I saw that (from some other source), I was puzzled that he spoke out (at all) against the invitation.
When I worked at Priests for Life, Father Frank Pavone had a trip to see Terri Schiavo when she was alive (this was a few months before the effort to have her killed and news about her exploded).
At that time, Father Frank had an extra day on the trip, so this was spent talking at a pro-life Dinner, but for a different Diocese nearby. It was hard, at that time, for Priests for Life to be allowed to talk in Saint Petersburg Diocese (thanks to Bishop Lynch).
So I think it is in keeping with what a bad bishop that Bishop Lynch seems to be. For him to attack pro-lifers, and not Father Jenkins nor Obama, over the Notre Dame invitation does seem like it is in keeping with his nature...
Hasn't Bishop Lynch reached the retirement age yet?
When he does, and he is "retired", it will be good news for the Church...
You’re right, Lynch is on the wrong list. His position was, in effect, defensive, i.e., pro-Jenkins.
