I have observed Good Friday from 1 PM to 3 Pm for 70 plus years. I recall my mother and I praying the Rosary during that time. Today I was at Stations of the Cross and will continue to meditate and pray for another hour.
I have been watching and listening to E W T N - TV. I am sure the time people follow will be explained to us in the future.
Good Friday is the most soberest day of the year.

Would it make any difference if Jesus was crucified on Thursday and we recognized the significance of His sacrifice on Friday by mistake? I don't think so, it's the event that is important.
