WASHINGTON -- The Obama family attended Easter services Sunday at St. John's Episcopal Church across from the White House -- but still have not picked a new spiritual home.
In what was probably the most painful episode of President Obama's quest for the White House, the Obama family quit Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ at the end of May 2008.
Obama dropped his membership in the church where he was married and his children baptized because of swelling controversies involving the Rev. Jeremiah Wright peaking as Obama was closing in on the Democratic primary nomination over Hillary Clinton.
The Obama family has been without a home church since.
Joshua Dubois, the head of White House Faith Office, said in a statement on Sunday, "The First Family has not made a decision yet on which church they will formally join in Washington, but they were honored to worship with the parishioners at St. John's Episcopal Church and at 19th Street Baptist Church earlier this year."
According to the pool report, Obama, first lady Michelle and daughters Sasha and Malia all took communion, standing in line and smiling while waiting their turn while congregants sneaked peeks. It appears they dipped the wafer in the chalice of wine and did not drink from the communal goblet.
A White House spokesman said that as baptized Christians, the Obamas could take communion in an Episcopal Church whether or not they were Episcopaleans.
During the "peace be with you" part of the service, the president and first lady stood to briefly greet parishioners.
No word if they put money in the plate.
A living lie, will always be a lie in all actions.
So it was just a PR move.
“A White House spokesman said that as baptized Christians, the Obamas could take communion in an Episcopal Church whether or not they were Episcopalians....”
Does the White House of the Obamanation get to make the rules in the Episcopalian Church?
“but still have not picked a new spiritual home” Is there not a Mosque close by?
This is indeed hilarious.
It is tricky business, taking communion as a Christian in all the various denominations. I’ve recently learned the differences between transubstantiation and consubstantiation, and then between the two of those approaches and the “rest” of the Protestants.
And then some churches require classes, even if a baptized Christian.
This White House spokesman shouldn’t assume anything about what this particular Episcopal church requires.
Now. . .about what Jesus would require before communion—that’s an entirely different story!
Anyway, is there any evidence that *all* of the Obamas are baptized Christians?
EVERYONE IS WELCOMED TO GOD’S TABLE IN THE EPISCOPAL CHURH.

BS. How painful can it be when you never listened to the sermons for twenty years? That’s not what I call an emotional relationship.
I just want to know what Michelle was wearing.
But at least she doesn't have bare arms. Someone must have clued her in.
Not nearly as bad as it could have been, except for the posture and the scowl. My church was full of women and girls wearing their spring outfits with sweaters and jackets because it was 40 degrees! Gotta love that Global Warming.
Actually, Obama is a pretty good fit for an Episcopal place. He’s pro-abortion, pro-gay “marriage”, elitist, socialist, etc.
That woman has the worst posture. She slouches.
awful
Church, God, dog, all just political props.
**So it was just a PR move.**
Agree! Totally there for the cameras. Not for what is in his heart.
If he was really a Christian, he wouldn’t be killing babies everywhere!
I left the Episcopal/Anglican church for the Catholic church because I got sick and tired of anti-American sermons and the replacement in the hearts of the congregation of the Cross of Christ with the male sex organ.
Obama ought to fit right in with them.
