Clearly, there needs to be another line drawn inside the attend weekly flock if we are interested in finding what unites the Catholics the pro-catechism Catholics? who back the U.S. bishops statement opposing the granting of honors to those who actively oppose Catholic teachings....
* Sunday-morning American Catholics. This voter is a regular in the pew and may even play some leadership role in the parish. This is the Catholic voter that is really up for grabs, the true swing voter that the candidates are after.
* The sweats the details Roman Catholic who goes to confession. Is active in the full sacramental life of the parish and almost always backs the Vatican, when it comes to matters of faith and practice. This is a very small slice of the American Catholic pie.
The first to categories are staunchly Democrat liberals.
Of the third category, maybe 40-60% of the “Sunday Morning” Catholics would ever care to vote for a conservative political candidate.
The final “slice of the pie” is the “Sweats the Detail” group. These overwhelmingly vote conservative, but they are, as stated, “a very small slice of the American Catholic pie”.
That tells me that those with a Catholic church association are an overwhelmingly liberal block of abortion-loving idiots.
It is amazing that so-called “conservatives” would associate with such a group.
much blame to the American Church leaders for muddying the waters and sending mixed messages (equivocating on pro-abortion Dems receiving communion, equating “social justice” issues with life and morality, tolerating some seminaries and convents that are flat-out Communist/Feminist outposts, etc.)
A “Catholic” who does not attend weekly Mass is like a “College Student” who doesn’t go to college.
