That may or may not be true. We are in a new paradigm with respect to the 18-29 year-old demographic. At no time since people have been tracking this demographic (at least since 1960) has a candidate or a party enjoyed as much support as Barack Obama does. He won this demographic by over 36 percentage points. With 18-29 year-old white males and females, he enjoys an approval rating of over 70%. His reception at Notre Dame is no surprise, although it should be sobering.

To put it in better perspective, Reagan barely lost this demographic in '80 and both Reagan and Bush won it convincingly in '84 and in '88 respectively.

Unless the GOP and conservatives can find a way to reach out to these voters and to shrink this gap, they're going to be on the outside of government, looking in for a long time.
