You can converse and carry ID, your pet cannot.

This is really scary! I can easily see this becoming mandatory for health insurance (esp Gov’t health) or being implanted without my knowledge/consent.

That’s true. But young children may not be able to do those things. And who wouldn’t want to ensure that their children are protected as much as possible? This is one of those ideas that sounds really good but is actually really horrible.
I agree it could easily become mandatory. Those of us who refuse the implant won’t have an easy time of it.
