I wouldn't mind knowing where the Orans posture came from in the congregation during the “Our Father” ending with the holding of hands, lifted high, in what I call the “Catholic Wave.”
Sure don't remember that as kosher when I was a kid :-)

I wouldn't mind knowing where the Orans posture came from ...It comes from the Bible.
Whether it's appropriate for the congregation during Mass is a judgment call by the Authorities, but it's certainly appropriate to prayer by one-and-all in general.
