Has God ever given you better vision (eye sight)?

Posted on 07/03/2009 12:54:16 PM PDT by free_life

Has anyone experienced this or heard of God giving someone much better eyesight where everything becomes much clearer temporarily? I am talking about physical eyesight.

I mentioned this has happened to me many times at a ministry meeting this week and one person said it has happened to him once after a dream he believes was from God.

I have experienced this after dreams, during fellowship with God, while in the Word of God, approximately 20 to 40 times in the last 25 years.

Everything becomes clearer, crystal clear instantly. You can just see a lot better. My normal eyesight is good, but this is way beyond that. Colors are more vivid, everything is in focus, panoramic and more enjoyable to see. The main aspect I remember is everything is clearer, very very crystal clear. It lasts from about 15 seconds to 30 minutes. It goes away gradually, the more gradual the longer the the full experience. My thoughts are like WOW, I really like this Lord, don't let it end, even my eyeballs feel different, better.

I described it like "eagle eyes" the other night but I do not remember being able to see all the much farther. Somewhat farther I believe but not like an eagle does. Now I don't remember trying to see farther either because I am so focused on what is all around me and the clarity of vision. Usually this has happened indoors also.

It has happened right after waking from a dream that I knew was from God. I wake out of the dream and like bang my brain is competing with, wow what a amazing dream, so real, what is God wanting me to know here AND ........ wow everything is so clear, so vivid.

It has also happened when just spending time with God, enjoying His company, His presence. Sometimes while/after praying/interceding but other times just having a chat with God. And bang it just happens, everything becomes very very crystal clear.

It has happened at times when the Word of God just seems to open up. The Holy Spirit gives me revelation on something in the Word. This super clear eyesight just accompanies the wow of the revelation of the truth the Holy Spirit is showing me.

I did some searching on the internet and did not find anything. This week is the first time I have mentioned this directly, where this friend who is involved in ministry said he remembers it happening to him after a dream. I am sure I have mentioned it when talking about a dream or encounter with God I have had, but focused on the dream or encounter with God and just kinda mentioned my eyesight got a whole lot better, so the conversation never really focused on the eyesight thing but just the dream or whatever I was sharing.

So I am wondering how common this is. Maybe it happens to lots of believers. Has it happened to you? Have you heard anyone else talk about it?

In heaven everything will be better and maybe this is just a glimpse of how much better our eyesight will be.

Interested in any comment etc you may have on this. I am curious and just decided this week to investigate it a little more.

I am hesitant to post it here as sometime a few Freepers seem to like being nasty with things they don't understand or that may somehow go counter to their strongly held beliefs. This seems to be most true of some religious Freepers. Hey it just a honest question because I want to see what more I can find out about it. So if it does not fit your denominational religious views maybe you could start your own thread on "weird people who think God has given them better eyesight." I promise to not go there and spoil it for you. :-)

My hope is that lots of Freepers have experienced this and I can learn more.

God bless each of you!

Oh and having better insight into something accompanies this physically improved eyesight. But I don’t always get this improved eyesight (everything becomes clearer physically) every time God gives me better insight into something, discernment, spiritual vision, revelation on something.

I haven’t had that experience but I had a rather humorous moment regarding my vision many years ago. I woke up one morning with crystal clear vision. I was amazed and couldn’t believe my good fortune. I walked around for several minutes looking at everything just to make sure my imagining anything, but then it dawned on me. I went to the bathroom, opened my contact case. Sure enough, I forgot to take out my contacts the previous night.

There was one fellow in the Bible whose eye did not grow dim. I’m thinking it was Abraham or Jacob but I’d have to look it up. Nothing wrong with praying for miracles and healing. It is in the Epistle of James (the healing anyways, which qualifies as a miracle, if done by the hand of the Almighty).

Hmmmmmmmmm.....now that is interesting. I do not remember reading that.

My eyes go back to normal....dimmer. About 30 minutes is the longest it has lasted.

“Oh and having better insight into something accompanies this physically improved eyesight.”

Of the two, I know which one I’d pick.

A lot of folks view life as a Monte Carlo simulation, ie. everything (and everyone) that you encounter is purely random. I used to think that, but there have been too many instances of something/someone happening at just the right place and time that took you off in a different (favorable) direction or solved the problem on the spot. Occurrences that were so remote, that when viewed objectively would have clearly been nearly impossible to have occurred by chance. I believe it’s God leaving little “gifts” for me. There’s really no other way to explain them. I’m sure that this isn’t unique to me.

For the most part they aren’t even “Damascus Road moments”. They really don’t have to be. They seem to be just nice, considerate (even personalized instances that are so unlikely, that I’m sure they have to be directed). Maybe other folks have seen such things. I like them.

Yes I agree the spiritual insight is more important. I do like this eyesight improvement thing though...and well it has been awhile since it has happened.

Moses! At age 120 when he brought Israel to the Jordan his “eye had not grown dim nor had his natural force abated”!

My wife, who is blind without her glasses, woke up one night to me fumbling around in the dark, chasing a very noisy cricket in our bedroom. She said God gave her perfect vision for a few minutes that night just so she could get a good laugh. No, she did not leave her contacts in or her glasses on. It was a one time “moment of clarity” she said.

Thats a funny story. I believe that God has a great sense of humor. When he comes across my path and says “hi” I usually burst out laughing. He is very funny. I don’t know how to describe the feeling, but if it has happened to you, you will know what I mean.

Now that is neat. It is often the little things that God does that amazes me the most.

A drop in blood pressure can do that, as I learned one warm day a couple summers ago. But if it keeps going down (as when you are dehydrated, for example) it stops being good and everything turns bright white and purple. Then you pass out.

Passing out quickly restores the upper body blood flow so you will return to the conscious world with the presence of mind to think you're dying, and seek medical attention (which is the right thing to do at that point).

Seriously, if you are experiencing changes in vision there is a good chance it is a manifestation of some underlying medical condition that should be checked.

I’ve never heard of this particular manifestation, but I was in Toronto when people received gold teeth. It was very real, hundreds of them got them and we saw it personally. Also, gold dust falling on people has been another experience folks have had.

I have experienced healings while praying for my husband who was very ill and was instantly healed and my son who had chicken pox and all his many spots disappeared in a moment. I’ve witness other healings as well. God can heal anything - eyesight included.

Healing is real, but for me, it takes a lot of praying and focus on God in my life. It is the biggest gift of my life having felt and witnessed the Holy Spirit come into these and other situations for healing.

For me, it takes all of my heart and mind. I would have to live as a monk. I’m not that good. I never had dreams of God and woke up healed, though.

My left eye used to be more myopic than my right until I got astigmatism correction. I believe God has helped me see better
