Popular Christian rock band MercyMe was involved in an automobile accident Saturday that resulted in the deaths of two people and the hospitalization of a third.
Car just hit our tour bus, tweeted MercyMe frontman Bart Millard from his iPhone around an hour after the early morning accident. We are ok, but 2 of the 3 in the car did not make it. The one that did is pregnant. Please start praying.
According to The Associated Press, police in Fort Wayne, Ind., were told by witnesses that the tour bus was going through a green light about 1:15 a.m. Saturday when the car made a left turn in front of it.
Fort Wayne police officer Liza Thomas told AP that two passengers in the car died and the driver was in critical condition after losing her baby.
In a second tweet made roughly four hours after the accident, Millard had reported that the woman and the 35-week-old fetus were in stable condition.
Can't sleep. Officers left to notify families of their loss. My heart aches. Girl driving is 35 wks pregnant. Both are stable, he wrote around 5 a.m.
MercyMe was on their way to a show at the Six Flags theme park in St. Louis, which has been rescheduled for Sept. 5.
No injuries had been reported on the tour bus.

For those who follow contemporary Christian music, this is the group that performed such number 1 hits as "I Can Only Imagine", Spoken For", "In the Blink of an Eye", "Here with me", "So Long Self" and "God with us".
They often perform in the Billy and Franklin Graham crusades as well as the Greg Laurie crusades.

“35-week old fetus”? Doesn’t it become a baby when delivered, regardless of the reason, or am I missing something in that statement?

Thanks for the news....but sorry for the deaths of those in the car...prayers for the woman and unborn child. Know that had to be a tough night for this group as it would be for anyone. Glad none in their group were injured, though.

Great video. The song has a metaphor it seems.... for Christians and Soldiers as well...As for the soldiers who are also Christians, this song gives them "DOUBLE" inspiration to "Make it Home" Here and When we meet our maker....

I like the song I Can Only Imagine. I’m not familiar with the others. I dont pay as much attention to christian music as much as I did back in the 80’s.

“I Can Only Imagine” is a great song, and you are right, tears do often flow when singing it.

Interesting, the whole article is in English, except for the fetus part, where they temporarily switch to Latin.

Our church purchased 250 tickets to the MercyMe concert and Texas Rangers ballgame on Sept 19.
They are a very good group that really speaks to youth.

Very sad news. (Car hitting a bus is generally bad news for the car and its occupants.)
35 weeks is almost full term; I’ve had 3 babies at 37. The baby should be fine if the mom delivers (or has delivered) at this point.

The identities have been released of three people involved in a fatal crash early Saturday morning when the tour bus of Christian rock band MercyMe collided with a car at the intersection of Lima Road and Coliseum Boulevard.
Killed were 19-year-old Dario L. Boutte and Barbara R. Schmucker, 17, who were both passengers in a black Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 18-year-old Kara Klinker, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Coroners office.
Klinker, who was 35 weeks pregnant, is in critical condition but her pregnancy ended shortly after her arrival at Parkview Hospital.
How sad

Amen. I'd like to share this song by Randy Travis with you. This incident with MercyMe reminded me of the story behind that song.
