"The words of the Bible and of the Church fathers rang in my ears, those sharp condemnations of shepherds who are like mute dogs; in order to avoid conflicts, that let the poison spread. Peace is not the first civic duty, and a bishop whose only concern is not to have any problems and to gloss over as many conflicts as possible is an image I find repulsive."

—Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, 1997

But they did not listen. A travesty in the eyes of God.

During his 1994 reelection campaign, Kennedy said ‘I wear as a badge of honor my opposition to the anti-choicers.’

Today’s gospel reading says it all and nails Teddy Kennedy for the phony hypocrite he was, as well, all of the pharasaical Catholic liberal Bishops who in their silence condoned and joined Kennedy. And of course the clan and the entire democratic party.
Mk 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23
He responded,
“Well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, as it is written:
This people honors me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me;
in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines human precepts.
You disregard God’s commandment but cling to human tradition.”
Teaching as doctrines human precepts. Yes, doctrines such as Michael espouses and an orthodox priest, God bless him, tries to disabuse Michael of.
And what He said, well I thought about Teddy when I heard it again today.
““From within people, from their hearts,
come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder,
adultery, greed, malice, deceit,
licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly.
All these evils come from within and they defile.”

What a fitting reading on this Kennedy weekend.
V’s wife.

See how far they got!

More than Congress needs to be thrown out.

Yeshua ha Mesiach is going to do it. Every knee will bow and every tongue confess when He returns.

he right to life will never be recognized by secular society if it is not first vindicated and consistently upheld within the institutions of the Church itself.”

Actually the secular are the ones who are in the forefront in the battle as witnessed by the author of the article who is secular

They are the true believers in the faith

Hierarchy are for the most part pathetic jokes

Despite all of Teddy’s flaws and often un-Christian like behaviors why should we begrudge that family if they wanted a Catholic funeral. Let God sort it all out and let the dead man go. We need to fight now against the left pushing foward socialistic national healthcare in his name.

A personal odyssey. My wife and I were both raised Catholics and both went to Catholic schools. Now in my 60s I still attended Mass faithfully and received Communion weekly.

For years I was bothered by the fact the Church would take no action against pro-abort politicians like Kennedy, but I deferred to the Church's judgement. There was also the pedophilia scandal which almost bankrupted the Spokane diocese north of me (I am in the Yakima diocese), but again I deferred to the episcopate. Surely these people know what they are doing and have the best interests of the faithful at heart, don't they?

Then came Obama at Notre Dame. Watching aged nuns and priests be arrested while that man was an honored guest at a "Catholic" institution named after our Holy Mother was finally more than I could bear. That order at ND is under the direct supervision of the Pope and he, and the order's prefect did nothing (in fact the prefect defended the invite). Judas Jenning, Order of Pontius Pilate, is still running ND and the Church, while constantly giving lip service to its Pro-Life position, did nothing, does nothing.

That the Church honors this pagan who poses as a Catholic doesn't surprise me in the least. It sickens me but it does not surprise me. After all just how much money have the Kennedys given the Church over the years in order to buy its silence and cooperation, such as buying their jokes of annulments?

Needless to say I am no longer a practicing Catholic, for as Ronald Reagan said of the Democrats, I didn't leave it, it left me.

And just so you won't think I am only critical of the Catholic Church for its inconsistencies, I point the same accusing finger at our Mormon friends. One of your apostles once called abortion "the greatest evil of our time" (perhaps paraphrased, but reasonably close). That was one of your apostiles, guys, a rather exalted person in your Church, no? So then explain to me why Harry Reid is still a member in good standing?

Will our side ever take a firm stand on anything?

“Where the carcass is, the vultures will come.” - Jesus of Nazareth

The Mission Church has held regular prayer services for the sick for years and there have untold number of healings. The crutches that hang on the walls are a testimony of God’s power.

And then they allow this travesty to be held there?

Believe me, after Obama won, I felt the same way. Why had Catholics (in name only) and so many other Christians been fooled by this man? I just couldn’t figure it out.

But the truth is those who did vote for Obama and follow ideas such as Kennedy’s, are not devout Christians. They pay lip service, but do not truly believe. They have lost their fear of the true God and replaced him with a pagan god.

I chose my name to continue to remind myself of JPII’s words “Be not afraid.” Those are the hardest words to stand by sometimes, especially since the election. We must remember God is in charge (I just wish he would send me the next chapter so I know how all this will end).

Whether our Bishops and Priests live by and teach the truth is something for us to pray about. They will have much to answer to when they meet God face to face. The truth is the truth no matter what. Just because a Bishop or Priest doesn’t preach it from the pulpit doesn’t mean we Christians who know the truth don’t have to continue to live by it. Especially Catholics and the Eucharist.

Pray for God to give you strength to defend the truth and to return home. I will pray for you and other who feel the same way, I know how you feel, I almost turned my back on the Church too.

I have found great inspiration in reading EWTN’s Faith Q&As. They answer lots of questions regarding the faith and what is going on in the political world today. I have gotten into a habit of reading the questions answered in the last 24 hours daily. This has been a great help for me to stay focused on the truth and to know I am not alone in my thoughts.

“Be not afraid.”

I too was going to leave the church but before doing so a friend suggested the Priestly Faternity of Saint Peter which is under the Pope. I drive 45 mins to Mass each way, but it is worth it. Good Priests, good homilies, confession before and after Mass, they stricly follow the doctrine of the Church. God has blessed me abundantly because of it and my family. The first Mass I attended there my daughter went completely white and afterwards said, Mom what was that? I never seen anything so holy before in my life. The graces and protection are in abundant. http://fssp.com/press/locations/

There's a lot of truth in the original post here. Hoever -- we do not know what Cardinal O'Malley knew -- (Or else he would NOT have been at the funeral, in my opinion.)

I disagreed with most of Kennedy's politics -- he was right on the "No Child Left Behind."

But -- We have no idea if Senator Kennedy had a deathbed re-conversion. We cannot judge.

I disagree.

His funeral was scandal for 3 reasons.

1. That grave matters such as abortion, sodomy and the destruction of the traditional family are not such grave issues if Catholics like Kennedy can publicly champion them w/o being censured by the Church.
2. That Catholics are allowed to live their lives, with impunity, in enmity with God and at war with His Church until their final days.
3. That all that is necessary for the salvation of such sinners is the act of Confession (as opposed to a sincere Confession made possible by a miraculous, special grace from God).

Do not give up hope... I think ND marked a turning point. Even though Obama still spoke, there were dozens of bishops who openly spoke out against him. Most notable among them was Bishop D'Arcy of South Bend - so the whole debaucle was not "approved" by the Church by any stretch of the imagination.

ND is not the Church. If Jennings et. al. don't change their ways, it will cease to be Catholic (or might simply cease to be). The Church, despite the shortcomings of its individual members, will not fail. Even Judas betrayed Christ, most of the Apostles fled during His Passion, and Peter denied Him.

You will be in my prayers today.
