Meldrum and other researchers argue that the Nephites and Lamanites lived in the same basic area of the United States where the LDS Church was founded.

The book of mormon is loaded with animals that have been shown not to be present in the Americas during the bom period (500BC-400 AD), such as the Ass, Bull, Calf, Cattle, Cow, domestic Goat (the Nephites claimed to have found the domestic goat!), Horse, Ox, domestic Sheep, Sow, Swine, & Elephants.
Why aren't animals such as Coatimundis, Deer, Jaguars, Tapir, Monkeys, Sloths, Turkeys, and yes - buffalo - mentioned when they were animals that existed?
