Christians on High Alert Over Hate Crimes Passage

A hate crimes bill sent to President Obama for his signature raises a red flag for Christians.

On Thursday, the U.S. Senate passed a hate crimes bill that Christian leaders have warned for years could greatly infringe on the rights of those who speak to loudly about their religious views. Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel agrees with most observers that President Obama will sign the measure -- adding that the president desires to "throw a bone to homosexual activists because they have been breathing down his neck...and this is a way to hold them off."

What a shame. Many of those who could have been warned of what their fate would be without repentance can now hear it from Jesus Christ Himself after it's too late.

The First Amendment spells out Americans right to religious freedom and freedom of speech. Period.

The last Marxist who tried that, banning Christmas ened up going to the wall when his people had enough of him. That was Nicole Ceasescu. That happened on Dec. 25th., 1989.

So, _Resident Obama is going to sign an Unconstitutional Law and We The Sheeple are supposed to let it happen?

This would seem to be a Test Case that will make or break our Constitution. Are there any Constitutional Attorneys ready to file motions against this supposed new Law?

Welome to the new Soviet Union my FRiends. The new Commie Boss, same as the old Commie Boss.

Add it to the list of grievances that will be explored at the military tribunal for the Kenyan Usurper, his cronies and his puppetmasters!

Dont even believe that Obama will sign that law because he wishes to throw a bone to homosexuals

He will sign it because he wants to. He wants to close the mouths of Priests, preachers and others who oppose the Obama toe tapping society.

As soon as this abomination is signed, the first sermon in every church in the land should be on what the bible has to say on sin, homosexuality, repentance, and forgiveness.

To paraphrase pastor Dave Welch(??) I think, we may get the opportunity to do something worthy of persecution.

Why does this article not include any of the text from the bill?

Too many leftists hide what the right actually says, instead claiming whatever they want.

And now I see it with a ‘conservative’ article?!? I don’t trust anyone that would deliberately hide source material and then make claims on it.

There is absolutely nothing in this bill that can be used to prosecute anyone on the basis of their speech, belief, or associations. It merely adds attacks based on sexual orientation to the list of criteria for federal hate crimes. I don’t think that Christians have any reason to fear, simply because you are only charged with a hate crime if you actually attack, injure, hurt, murder, etc., and this specific act was fueled by prejudiced beliefs. I don’t know if I necessarily believe that hate crimes deserve a special legal status, because I think that hurting an innocent person is abhorrent whether you are prompted by prejudice or cold blood. I also think that prosecuting someone to a harsher extent based on their beliefs is discriminatory in itself. However, I do know that if you are a Christian, you need not fear anything unless you actually commit a crime that happens to be charged by hate. So just don’t physically assault anyone, and you’re good to go.

While all of this sounds good, all it will take is one person suing a minister over a sermon on homosexuality saying it caused a crime against him/her. Then watch this bill go OTT with at attempt to silence what the Bible teaches.

..adding that the president desires to "throw a bone to homosexual activists because they have been breathing down his neck...and this is a way to hold them off.".

Can't say that I've ever thown a bone to a homosexual activist or had a desire to. Neither have I had one breathing down my neck. Not sure this strategy will work to hold them off.

I guess this kind of thing is required if you want to be a DemonRat President.

I'll bet you any sum of money that you care to wager that it will be. How about a year's wages, yours versus mine, whichever is lower?

That is already legal. To sue someone for incitement to commit an act against you has always been legal.

This bill will have a bigger affect on employment policies. And potentially some impact like the Civil Rights Act had on certain crimes being half hartedly persued by law enforcement.
