Ping!
All I know is that Danny Glover plays the president, so the casting was perfect.
Easily recognizable land marks.
The sign of the Cross is because there is no visual for the viewer to know that people are praying.
And finally its just a movie.
Roland has said that he is against organized religion. This makes him a bigot.
He has also said that he considered having the destruction of the muslims big rock in his film but reconsidered when advised that he may have a fatwa against his life.
So he is an anti-Christian bigot and a flaming coward to boot.
Boycott him AND the studio.
The fact that they fill the trailer with shots of his attacks on Christianity is not an “accident”. Even if you do not attend the film, you are still likely to be subjected to the trailer on tv and in the theaters.
Boycott the studio too.
—I know I won’t be going to see it because as reported here on FR last week, the producer didn’t put in Mecca being destroyed because he was afraid of Islamic retaliation-—
Emmerich’s movies are boring for anyone with an IQ above room temperature.
Outrageous! What cowards these bastards are. Try showing Mohammed’s face on the silver screen and see the cinemas go up in flames and be prepared to read the obituaries of the producers and actors.
I seldom if ever see anything coming out of Hollywood that shows Christians in a good light.
You will occasionally, occasionally see a movie that has a good message but any movie that has any explicitly Christian character in it, that character is usually a negative one. Lampooned if you’re lucky, but usually he turns out to be the serial killer or child molester or backstabbing sell-out in the story. I can’t remember the last time I saw a movie in which an explicitly Christian character was the good guy.
Its not just about Catholics, although Catholics make a good target, they’ve got all the cool and well-known icons that Hollywood loves to use and abuse, it makes for easy cinematic symbolism. So Catholics become Hollywood’s proxy for Christianity in general. But they don’t like any of us. I’m getting to the point that I don’t like any of them, either.
Several trailers also have wanton destruction of Buddhist temples and Tibet being engulfed by tidal waves and this is a major location area and thematic centered item in the movie. (the first trailer centered on nothing but this) so one could just as well ask it if it is anti-Buddhist.
::spoiler alert::
While there may be an intention meant, I believe they go for what they consider familiar images and include religious imagery to both bring it back to the Noah’s ark theme (you’ll understand when you see the movie) and the concept of shaking humanity down to their very core, the most fundamental aspects are threatened, not just life but faith. However, there is a twist outside the Mayan aspect that “this has happened before, it will happen again” that some will find interesting.
Because Catholics have bigger statues and cooler buildings. Who’s going to watch a movie about dinky Protestant statues and storefront churches collapsing? Boooorrrinnggggg....
The Catholic Church is the only force over the past 1400 + years that has stopped and beaten Islam. I have issues with church especially the libs and scum at Notre dame and other “catholic” schools.
The reason why the church is attacked by the left is Islam knows it may be the only thing stopping them from total domination with the exception of china.
"2012 is a movie so bad that the Vatican is in talks with God to cancel the actual Armageddon altogether." (Massawyrm, AintItCoolNews.com)
Ouch! And it goes downhill from there. Let it die of its own awfulness. It won't last long.
Just typical Hollyweird if you ask me.
BTW, he excluded Mecca from his destruction film because he feared the Islamic backlash.
Look at the bright side. It shows that Christendom has produced great structures worth destroying in a movie. Except for the Kaaba nothing notable worth destroying in the Islamic world.
Or not! ;-)
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Several major Catholic buildings, statues etc destroyed...
No, nein, neit, zero, zilch Moslem buildings, statues, etc desytoyed...
Now why would you ask that ???
Actually, in the movie “2011”, all the moslem holey places were destroyed...
Why there was a big holey for hundreds of miles where Mecca had been...
In “2012”, the remain 2 Moslems prayed bowing to a picture of the holey dust...
There isn’t a movie made today that isn’t rife with political correctness and pop-culture vanity. I’ll pass - on all of them.
It just showed a lot of people praying, no destruction.
From what I understand the director hates all religions but for safety reason (his own I presume) did not show the destruction of any Islamic sites.
0:31 second into the trailer they show people praying in Mecca.
