Joe got off easy. As he was attempting to escape from that second story window, a bullet hit him. He falled down and went boom.

I generally agree with your opinion of Joseph Smith. Had he been found guilty by a court of a capital crime and executed I would have no problem with it. However, he had a right to that trial, particularly after surrendering on promise of protection.
