Exactly. God essentially said, go ahead and kill those seven sons and three daughters as part of this wager we’ve made. Then there’s all the people working for Job as well. the cattle herders slain by the Shebans, the shepherds killed by the fire that fell from the sky, and the camel herders killed by the Chaldeans.

“Therefore, If you have seen real love, you have known God.”

That doesnt really seem to address the initial question. HOW CAN A GOOD GOD ALLOW A TSUNAMI? Just because someone loves doesnt give them an understanding of God.

Who thinks we could survive without the physics that bring about tsunamis?

May as well ask how a good God can allow death itself.

On the other hand, if a soul is meant to live an eternity, what is a few seconds of pain? 20 years of heartache? Cancer is equivalent to removal of a band-aid. A tsunami is just a way of introducing a greater number of souls to that eternity.

They say it’s “Gods plan” but I just don’t see the good in it ...

You are not alone in that. I suggest reading "A Grief Observed" by Lewis. It helps a bit, sometimes.

At least you don't feel quite so alone in your questions.

Allow?

Allow?? How can G-d "ALLOW" a tsunami?

Eighteenth century deism is alive and well!

Just because someone loves doesnt give them an understanding of God.

It helps a lot, since the Apostle John asserts that "God is Love"

Since Adam and Eve didn’t conceive until after they was thrown out of the Garden I say there would be no children in a perfect world.

Oh dear...just 3months. Be kind to yourself as it’s still early. My best friend lost a mate...oh it was tough. Many times I listened and just was there for that. But it is hard. Hope for your future as this will pass...

By the way my friend re-married and loves her new mate, but she and I still talk much about he who is no longer here, but we smile and laugh for the memory. You will too...

Yes, exactly the right answer, with sprinkles. Way better than I could have said it too.

If you ever want to see shocked staring looks of horror, preach this truth from a pulpit. Christian formation is ever-so-weak these days, which is why Christians are running around asking "why oh why would a good God allow bad stuff?"

And then some go on to think in their secret thought "I would never allow such a thing to happen; therefore, let all creation witness that I am more righteous than God; more just than God, more deserving of worship than God."

The church of "I" has more members than all the religions on earth combined.
