Helping out those affected by earthquake in Haiti via Catholic Relief Services.

Thanks for this. I remember them taking the MOST active role early-on in the Katrina disaster.
I wondered if donations were down and that is why they had not offered to help.
The Salvation Army is there, too, and they have a very good record of being good stewards with the money donated to them.
The Baltimore Archdiocese adopted Haiti as a sister country years ago.
They run a hospital and school there.
Apparently the complex survived the earthquake as our parish Priest is in close contact.
At least there is some good news out of there.
Conversely, my wife has a good friend who’s sister was in the UN building and she did not make it.
Prayers for the lady who worked at the UN.
Difference in building techniques? The UN took the cheap way?? The Catholic Church and Scool took the more expensive way?
Or is it all the will (or protection) of God?
Reminds me of how the small Catholic Chapel next to the Twin Towers was not harmed at all on 911.
The SBC has been on the job since the beginning working through other agencies. Got an update the other day.
Thanks for the link!
I have been wondering about something and have not been able to find an answer. What has happened to the hospital which TBN was building years ago? I quit watching the network many years ago.
The site is;
This goes to the disaster page. The SBC does a fantastic job and I get an update on what is going on.
CRS is the best charity IMO, giving about 94% of every dollar directly to services.
(BTW, where are all of the atheist groups who want equal access at Christmas etc? What are they doing to help the people of Haiti? I have seen none on any coverage.)
Excellent point on the atheist groups.
They want equal treatment, but
Equal hearts? No

The Catholic Church and School
I MUCH prefer donating to CRS than to the Red Cross. I just don’t trust the Red Cross anymore.
Each time I hear these people talk, I alays think of all of the work being done by Christian groups, and have NEVER heard of even 1 atheist group doing the same.
Someone on TV needs to call them out on this.
On the news tonight I heard CBS News say that Catholic Charities (then they showed someone wearing a hat with Catholic Relief Services) ALREADY passed out food and sanitary items to some of the people.
For international disasters, I use Catholic Relief Services, because they are often first responders. Even Paul Neuman has contribured to them in the past because they are right there.
