Because they were there with funds? Because the organizations that were in Haiti were seriously damaged in the quake? I don’t know why.
I ask, why not? Why not use all the help offered? Potentially 600,000 dead, now’s not the time for a litmus test. You don’t like the partnership. Fine, give elsewhere. But I will not condemn those who help.

Why not use all the help offered? Because not all of the 'help' is actual help. Both the Mormon and the Muslim efforts will get headlines (such as this very article). Good PR is one of the goals, if not the overriding purpose of the whole effort. Remember that both legitimate charities and scams will call you for donations.
