On all threads, but particularly open threads, posters must never make it personal. Reading minds and attributing motives are forms of making it personal. Making a thread about another Freeper is making it personal.
When in doubt, review your use of the pronoun you before hitting enter.
Like the Smoky Backroom, the conversation may be offensive to some.
Thin-skinned posters will be booted from open threads because in the town square, they are the disrupters.

Thin-skinned (emotional, whiney or mercurial temper) posters are the disruptors on open threads.

A lot to digest here, we will here a lot of anti LDS in the future this will be an interesting year. I am not in tune with the Book of Mormon, there is only one book to put your trust in.
To the mormons Jesus was still alive when he did this “atonement”
However Biblical Salvation was only won for us through the shedding of His Blood and His DEATH and resurrection
Very true.
To the LDS the ‘atonement’ means something very different than it does to Christians. It is a major point of departure.
So if Jesus accomplished everything the Garden of Gethsemane, what was the purpose of the torture and Crucifixion?

Exactly, He could have lived to be 80, died of natural causes and still been resurrected so everyone else could.
The focus on the garden takes the need for the cross away.

Which one is combative and which one has love towards their follow man
It is bizarre that mormonism constantly substitutes
something else for Biblical truth - adding in just
enough references from the Bible to sound legitimate,
while changing their meaning.
In this case, Redemption happened at the cross
when the Savior died... not when he bled in the
garden.
Why does the cult of mormonism do this?
I believe it is for one reason...
... there is only one way to keep people out of
the Kingdom - don’t let them come to faith in
Christ alone, by God’s grace, through faith,
apart from works.
Mormonism came about, through the testimony of
the founder José Smith, by a visit from a demon.
He claimed it was an angel. Not surprising since
the Bible tells us that Satan presents himself
as an angel of light.

Dont you have a baby caucus thread to babysit and burp ???
I’m surprised that no Mormon defenders are here yet; I want to discuss how this relates to Battlestar Galatica! For instance, did Baltar atone for all of the Colonial’s sins when he nearly bled to death on the Cylon base ship, did he atone only for his own sins, or was there no atonement? Is Baltar more of a Christ or a Joseph Smith, Jr.? We know he talked to angels, but lost a lot of blood...
C’mon, somebody! Battlestar and Caprica are better written than the original Book of Mormon is; you know it’s true.
Youve mentioned Battlestar Galatica before but I never watched it...
Whats the relationship to mormon atonement ???
I'd check it out if I were you.
Brigham Young held the aberrant view that man could shed his own blood for his own sins, and find atonement.
Obviously, such false claims are at odds with Scripture.
I would not say that Jesus "accomplished everything" in the Garden. It was necessary that he bleed and die. Thus the Atonement began in Gethsemane, continued through the trials and scourging, and ended on the cross when Jesus died.
Don't forget too that Jesus arose again on the third day and was seen by many. He ascended into heaven, and will return in like manner.
Sorry, I guess not everybody knows...
My ex-mo wife ruined my childhood love of the original Battlestar Galactica series by explaining that it was all an allegory of the handcart trek to Salt Lake. I had thought that the show was the most wildly creative mix-and-explanation of all the myths on Earth (remember, this was in the 1970s, so there was a lot of competition). The fighter helmets based on Pharaonic headdresses totally sucked me in, as a budding Egyptologist. I had no idea that people actually believed this stuff.
I think that a good case can be made that the new Battlestar is an even better exemplar of Mormon cosmology than the original, involving the preexistence, salvation by grace after all we can do, and the necessity of new worlds to continue the cycle. The relation to atonement I mentioned in my previous post, but without having seen the show, it’s hard to describe.
For what it’s worth, my wife loves Big Love, but can barely stand my watching Battlestar or Caprica. Maybe it’s because Sci-Fi (SyFy channel, now) takes the beliefs of BSG more seriously than HBO takes the beliefs in BL?
Amen. People, do not be deceived.
Not so, He suffered in The Garden. Luke 22:39-44. He suffers so much that an angel appeared to strengthen him and he “prayed more earnestly” and his sweat was like great drops of sweat falling to the ground. Christ’s agony in the Garden is unfathomable by the finite mind, both as to intensity and cause.
Thousands of others died on the cross.
We may disagree on this one as well as Heb. 1:2 where it states that He created “Worlds”
