The Bible commands us to love our neighbors (aka anybody/everybody) and even to love our enemies. Since those actions were contrary to biblical Christianity, they should no more be correlated with it than this murder is to be correlated to Wicca. What a pile of steaming poo. The statement seems to contradict itself. Loving your enemies is contrary to biblical Christianity?

I think you misread the article. I think the clause "Since those actions" refers to persecution of witches, not "loving your enemies".

However, I think's it a pile of steaming poo, too, but for another reason. God told Israel not to allow a witch or spiritualist to live. Why?

I believe it has to do with contact with the spirtual world, which is forbidden, except for contact with God. The bible speaks of fallen angels (aka demons), spiritists, mediums, witches and contacting the dead, all of which are forbidden. Why?

I believe if you look at the false religions of the world. (Islam, Mormons, Wiccans, New Age/Hindu, etc.) They often have one thing in common. They were started through contact with spirits, other than God.

Is Islam's case, Mohammed was tortured by a spirit that he was believed was evil, until his wife convinced him otherwise. So he goes out and starts an extremely violent religion, that simultaneously claims Judeo-Christian scripture is good, yet turns many of it's precepts on it's head, all the while proclaiming itself to have no contradictions. And this allows Mohammed to satisfy his lusts, achieving power and marrying multiple women and even children.

In Mormon's case, Joseph Smith dabbled in the occult and eventually claimed to see an angel who told him that existing Christianity was "an abomination". Once again we see the leader Smith satisfy his lusts by achieving nearly absolute power over his congregation and marries multiple women, sisters, a mother and daughter, and children. And to do this he contradicts existing scripture, claiming it's full of errors and ommissions and substituting his own scripture, doctrines and desires for original scripture.

Given how many souls have been lost and will eventually be destroyed due to the practice of contacting the spirit world, it's shouldn't be surprising that God banned spiritists.

It is in the context of loving others that these people were banned. It's not loving others to let a mass murderer roam free in society and do what he wills. Neither is it loving others to allow spiritists to distort truth and lead people into damnation.

However, we saw in both Ancient Israel and Europe that government control over church led to error, even when the government was nominally Christian. Not wanting to repeat those errors we created a secular government, where the government was banned from enforcing any particular strain of religion.

In this age of information, I'm not calling to go back to the persecution. But we would do well to remember why witches were persecuted.

The Wiccan's adopt the satanist creed of "As long as you do no harm, do as you will." Even as their religion separates people from God and causes everlasting spiritual harm.

God calls us to something far better, an active love that doesn't retreat into a shell. A love that demands that we confront sin, while loving the sinner. A love that demands that we reach out to those less fortunate that ourselves. That we take care of the poor and needy, the widows, the orphans, the homeless, the hungry, etc. A love that demands that we encourage others in love and truth. A love that demands that we share the good news of Jesus Christ with all sinners that they might be restored to fellowship with our Creator.

Wiccan's have nothing to offer in comparison.
