He tells Paul VI that treatment for priests who have succumbed to “abnormal, homosexual tendencies” should include psychiatric, as well as spiritual, counseling — but goes on to warn about the dangers of leaving those individuals in ministry..

I guess know one agreed with him?

One letter from 1963. My gracious you and all the other anti Catholics are getting desperate. And I will say again this vendetta by the press is about shutting the Church up so she never opens her mouth on any moral issue ever again.

Do you know how many psychiatrists at the time believed that sexual patholgies could be cured with therapy. Or how many believed that pedophiles focused on one or at most only a few victims making removing them from the source of their obsession a legitimate means of dealing with the abuse? No one truly had yet grasped the number of victims one pedophile could have.

Keep trying to make like the Church is the embodiment of evil. You will keep failing.

What is it that causes gay pedophiles to become involved in the ministry?

This letter is not newly discovered information. It’s been available for a number of years. So the Catholic bashers aren’t questioning the timing of its release, just jumping on the bandwagon to bash the Church. One of the other things that Fitzgerald recommends is the priests in question be sent to an isolated island and basically left to fend for themselves. While punishment is definitely in order, I suspect of the media reported that it would make Fr. Fitzgerald look somewhat less than sane.

Also, with all of the attacks on Pope Benedict, the media is failing to recognize what he is doing to clean things up. He’s been quietly going about reforming the process of how priests enter seminary, requiring much more stringent psychological testing before acceptance as well as much more oversight in the seminaries themselves. Anyone of you Catholic-bashers want to guess why that’s not being reported??

Most of the comments attached to that story read like something the Nazis would write about Jews.

Here's a comment from that story that puts things into better perspective:

82% of the known offenses by Catholic Priests are homosexual behavior with TEENAGE BOYS. Why does Harvey Milk get a day of celebration in California public schools when he brags, in his biography, his partners were 16 to 23 years old. The US Catholic Church pays $1.5 million per victim and is hated. Why Did Sean Penn get an Oscar playing Harvey Milk (a pedophile by the same standards)? Therefore, you that hate the church, by definition, are ignorant or homophobic. Stop using double standards. They are evil and breed your hate. Be fair not judgmental. Progressives should conclude that the Catholic Church was a leading edge "progressive" when it comes to gay tolerance and employment. But, look what it got them. I rest my case.

This certainly is an orchestrated attack on the Church.

I daresay there are a LOT more pedophiles and perverts working for AP—or the Washington Post and the NY Times—than there ever were in the Catholic Church.

And their obvious purpose in running this lying propaganda campaign is to lessen the influence of the Church, so that pedophiles will be more free to do their thing.

That’s why the Times was busy defending Rembert Weakland and attacking Pope Benedict a few days ago—because they really support the dissidents and perverts.

Is the letter even authentic? The NYTime “letter” in the Murphy (Milwaukee) case, we now know, was forged.

FReepers are notorious for spotting frauds of this kind. But anti-Catholic Freepers don’t even bother to ask the question.

You can’t trust a d!!n thing that the media say about this issue. Evil things were done by many priests and bishops. But just because that is true, doesn’t mean I will believe ANYTHING published about this in the MSM until it’s been properly vetted. Jeffrey Anderson and the NYTimes posted a forged handwritten letter about the Vatican’s handling of the 1996 Milwaukee case.

What part of the “NYTimes is lying filthy scum” don’t you get?

Criticize the Catholic Church all you want IF and WHEN you have trustworthy facts. Until then, suspend judgment and find out facts.

Here’s the most recent FR report on the NYTimes fraudulent letter. At least 9 other FR threads have deal with the same evidence. It seems to have escaped your attention.

Here’s the original article in the Anchorage diocesan newspaper:

The Telegraph has published this debunking but the NYSlimes ignores it. You ignored it.

Wake up.

The LA Times is funny. They have one of the biggest pedophile enablers as cardinal right there in their city. And yet, they don't bother to run exposes on him. They run them on the Pope instead.

Just remember--homosexuals in the media are out to damage their enemies and protect their friends. Always keep that in mind when reading this slander.
