May I recommend a book that I consider one of the few that altered my life? It is Dispensational Truth by Clarence Larkin. Larkin was a mechanical engineer by training who was definitely chosen by God to expound and illuminate Scriptures for the elect. And, although it was copyrighted @ 1918 and the "current event" examples are somewhat dated by that, his dispensational timeline charts and depth of understanding are amazing.
