Maybe because pedophilia has been a problem in the Church for centuries, and that the hierarchy (and their kool-aid drinking defenders who would commit suicide if the Pope told them to do so) have usually covered it up.

For too long, the Church thought it could hide its corruption and intimidate secular authorities. Now that these perversions have been exposed, housecleaning is FINALLY taking place. The high-hat wearers can no longer hide their malfeasance in the 21st century, nor are they as powerful in shutting people up.

Any Catholic who denies the above mentioned corruption and perversion is either blind or stupid, and made even more foolish when they parrot the high-hats line that they are being "persecuted." Welcome the the 21st century, padres!
