TSgt says that the EWTN discussion of this article is "biased," so here's the original.

Shocking that this wasn’t on the front page of the New York Times.

There is no Catholic sex scandal. There is (or rather was) a homosexual sex scandal within the Catholic priesthood.

while research shows that most US victims were teenage boys, that is thought to be because this was the group to which priests had most access. "The vast majority of child abuse [against] both male and female is carried out by men who are heterosexual, and many of whom are married," notes Ms Smith. So most of the sexual abuse of teenage boys is carried out by heterosexual males??????????

**the prevalence of abuse by priests has fallen sharply in the last 20-30 years.**
I agree.

The last line of the story is the pull-quote that a change is needed at the top in the Vatican and that because of their “top down” approach, priests just naturally pick up on that.
The story offers no opinion, but it is implicit, this is the fault of a hierarchical church, and one which it is much more difficult for them to influence and, therefore, must be pilloried at every possible moment. Kick a Church when it’s down.
This is nothing new, just the secularists putting the Vatican on notice that they are watching them and ready to turn the screws. God Bless his Holiness, I hope he opens up with both barrels on these maroons.
