Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem~Origins

Ancient Shinar

Oh LORD, Our God!
Sanctified and Holy is Your Most hallowed Name.
How Excellent, How Wonderful,
How Perfect You Are!
My heart is Overwhelmed With Your Glory,
Your Magnificence,
and Your Power!
When I think of how Awesome You Are,
Of How You Transcend Time and Space,
Of How You Created Everything That Is and Ever Was,
Of How You Tell History From the Beginning to The End
and the End to The Beginning,
Of How You Give us a Glimpse into Your Infinite Mind
through Your Holy and Unchanging Word,
How You Are Faithful To Your Promises Even When We Fall Away,
And How You Fulfill Every Jot and Tittle of Your Precepts,
When we ourselves fall so short of the target,
I just have to stop everything,
And say, "How Great and AWESOME YOU ARE!"

12. And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

13. And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.

14. And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.

15. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

16. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

Abba, as I read this passage,
and realize that this is the first time in Your Word that You People are called by name (Hebrew),
And read that they are called upon to rescue a group of hostages from a powerful gang of thugs from Babylon and Persia,
I am absolutely STUNNED!
And "Hebrew" means "Stranger", "Outsider", or "That which came from behind".
Yet Your man Abram, with a little over 300 Men overcame the combined Armies of FIVE KINGS!
To rescue a sorry bunch of nasty people from Sodom.
Father, Although we know this is the FIRST time such an incident is attributed to Your people,
It shall NOT be the LAST.

18. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

19. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20. And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

What A Revelation!
Melchizedeck (King of Righteousness) who is the King of Salem (Jerusalem), Shows up out of nowhere and Blesses Abram,
And Abram gives HIM a TENTH of everything he has!
Thank You, Father,
for this PIVOTAL Chapter in Your Wonderful Torah,
with these Exquisite JEWELS of KNOWLEDGE if we have but eyes to see!

Abba, Father, Thank Your For Jerusalem.
May it never be divided Again!

21. And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

22. And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

23. That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

We Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem,
According to your Will and Promise.
Let the people say:
It is The LORD who has given us this land, and not we ourselves.
We Pray for the Citizens of Israel,
that they can live in their neighborhoods
without having to worry about rockets hitting their children.

Father, We Thank You For The Remnant who Continue to Support Israel,
despite the political Climate.
We ask you to protect and defend them.

Number us NOT with those who whisper lies to Your People.
Those who say "Peace and Safety" out loud,
but who inwardly plot against You and Your Beloved!
We ask You to Intervene in the Affairs of Nations,
And Change the Direction of Our Own.
We Plead With You, That Our Leaders will be Led by Your Spirit
with regards to Our Own Country's Policies Towards Jerusalem,
Or That You Will Remove Them.
We Also Pray that you will remove the spirit of idolatry
That has invaded the politics of our Nation.
We beg For You To Replace The leaders Who Seize Power
Only to feed Their own EGOS, and NOT to Serve the People or the Constitution.

We pray for an END to Lies, Slander, Blood Libel,
Propaganda, and Antisemitism against Your Beloved.
We Pray For An End to Slavery, Hostage-Taking,
and Piracy wherever it is Practiced Around the World.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews, In Bondage in Hostile lands,

We Plead For Israeli Control Over All the Holy Sites in Israel,
So that People of All Faiths may visit them.
We Pray For Bibi Netayahu, and the Leaders of Israel
May They Receive Wisdom from You to do the Right Thing.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Thread

Pray For The Peace Of Jerusalem~Origins

Ruins of the Ziggurat at Ur, Abram's Home Town,
Before he was Called Out By the LORD

The Book of Genesis

Chapter 14

Here we Go. This is the First WAR recorded in the Bible, and in the Middle East.
A federation of kings from Persia and Babylon held a group of towns near the Dead Sea Hostage to Tribute (taxes) for TWELVE YEARS.
Finally the towns rebelled, but things went badly for them.
So WHO do they call?
Abram the Hebrew, Of Course!

Come pray For the peace of Jerusalem with me.

Pray for the Peace and Protection
of Jerusalem and all of Israel!

A 3,800 year-old city gate at Dan. The Bible says that when Abraham rescued Lot, he went up to this city in pursuit of the captors (Genesis 14:12-14). He may have walked through this very gate. It is the only preserved mud brick gate we have from the Middle Bronze Age. The northern (right) tower had begun to show structural weakness around 1700 B.C., so the fortifications were buried in a huge earthen rampart that protected the city for the next 3 centuries, and preserved the gate for us.

The significant discoveries at Dan are too numerous to mention just now. In 1979 a complete Middle Bronze city gate (19th/18th century B.C.) was found at Dan (ancient Laish). This gate illustrates that the city was strongly fortified at the time Abraham rescued Lot.
