Well, not the first of the line. In the 4th Century many Jews became Christians and were despised for their opportunism by John Chrysostom. I think it is this quality, both a virtue and a vice, that explains anti-semitism and indeed any form of nativism. The feeling that some people want it both ways, are unwilling to commit fully to the regnant social order.

What would he have thought of the apostles, I wonder?

Ironically, "nativism" is perfectly acceptable so long as it is by non-"westerners"/"indigenous" peoples.
