Vatican: Church 'exorcist' urges action to fight devil

Vatican City, 17 June (AKI) - The Catholic Church's most famous exorcist says more should be done to fight the devil. Father Gabriele Amorth has conducted 70,000 exorcisms for the church during his lengthy career.

In an interview with Italian daily, Corriere Della Sera, the 85-year-old priest said it would be worth extending the practice of exorcism.

"It would not be a bad idea," he told the daily. "In Italy moral decay is evident. Families are often breaking down.

"Do you know what I would do if I was the Pope for a moment?" he asked. "I would provide every opportunity for exorcisms. Like the Orthodox Church. There you do not need the permission of a bishop."

Amorth recounted his battles against the devil in a dozen books, translated into 28 languages. The latest, Memories of an Exorcist, recounts his experiences with a number of victims with which he worked.

He said when people are possessed by the devil they often speak in incomprehensible languages as well as Greek, Latin and Aramaic.

Has the creature that possessed our government been speaking in Greek, Latin and Aramaic?

I wonder why the original headline put the word "exorcist" in quotes? He's an exorcist. To put it in scare-quotes ("exorcist") implies a skeptical adjective, like "reputed," "self-professed," or even "spurious."

Like writing about "President" Obama...

Adkronos International (AKI) is an Italian wire service like AP or Reuters.

That should answer your question right there.

The world has become so morally decayed that I think the Lord is loosing His wrath upon it. The evil has become so insidious that it has grown to DHIMMITUDE, while distractions flourish to confound. Be sure to Google that word, DHIMMITUDE. Now is the time to examine one's principles. Now is the time to change one's wicked ways. Now is the time to stand on sturdy Christian legs to defy the rank Evil which silently pervades this planet. Repent one's sins. Steep oneself in God's Holy Word, or else all we cherish in our lives will shrivel before one's eyes. Ponder thi which I received today, if you will: The word is: DHIMMITUDE I had never encountered this word but, after reading the forward, I checked both Google and Snopes and learned a good deal more. Your time will be well spent if you wish to ponder on this one! Word of the Day: Dhimmitude http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/exemptions.asp Now that we have Obama Care, at least until we can overturn the bill, note that in the provisions of the bill, Muslims and Amish do not have to sign up for the mandatory health care, NOR pay for it because of religious convictions, They can however, enjoy the benefits of free health care. If you have never heard the word until now---Type it into Google and start reading...Pretty interesting. Note that Muslims and certain other religions are exempt from the Obamacare penalties and it is supported by law. We are surrendering from within! The boy is leading us right down the path to total control! Dhimmitude is the Muslim system of controlling non-Muslim populations conquered through jihad. Specifically, it is the TAXING of non-Muslims in exchange for tolerating their presence AND as a coercive means of converting conquered remnants to Islam. The ObamaCare bill is the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia Muslim diktat in the United States . Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be "gambling", "risk-taking" and "usury" and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this. How convenient. So I, a Christian, will have crippling IRS liens placed against all of my assets, including real estate, cattle, and even accounts receivables, and will face hard prison time because I refuse to buy insurance or pay the penalty tax. Meanwhile, Louis Farrakhan will have no such penalty and will have 100% of his health needs paid for by the de facto government insurance. Non-muslims will be paying a tax to subsidize muslims. Period. This is Dhimmitude. Dhimmitude serves two purposes: it enriches the muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions to islam. In this case, the incentive to convert to islam will be taken up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless Generation X, Y and Z types who have no moral anchor. If you don't believe in Christ to begin with, it is no problem whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver. "Sure, I'll be a muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes. Where do I sign, bro?" I recommend sending this post to your contacts. This is desperately important and people need to know about it - quickly.

Father Gabriel has been busy! 70,000 exorcism is like 3 a day including Sundays for a period of 50 years.

That said, I tend to take seriously the Father's opinion and advice on the matter of exorcisms and battling Satan.

I wonder if some of them were groups? I mean, if one of them was a group of 65,000, the rest could be dispatched individually on say, a Tuesdays-and-Thursdays-only basis...:o)

I really admire him. I did learn that each time an exorcism is performed, it stays with the exorcist one way or another. It’s a scarring experience.

Matt 19:7,8 : As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

Because his original statement was translated, what might have been lost was that the Father had been involved as an adviser in 70,000 exorcisms or had overseen that many.

But I can think of a few large groups that could certainly stand a good collective exorcism!;-)

He could start with Congress!

I admire him too (and have learned the same thing about the experience becoming part of the exorcist).

He must be one tough old guy!

Maybe some repeat offenders:
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man,
he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out;
and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself,
and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Matthew 12:43

Why is there abundant evidence for God in his creation, but not a single instance of evidence for Satan
or the devil until human beings begin to abstract information from their environment?

Among the toughest. Facing the Devil himself (lowercase used to make the Devil insignificant in comparison to God who I address, as Himself) and to be able to chat and then proceed to exorcise him. I bet Christ Himself is there helping him out.

Again, I completely agree!

As an aside, I always thought he spoke volumes when the Archangel Michael refused to besmirch Satan when wrestling for the body of Moses (again, another great mystery) and only said, "the Lord rebuke thee"!

Curious!

Here's the actual verse...

Jude 1:9

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

There are many different Bibles available at the source...but IIRC they all say the same thing in this case.

Strange also IMO that it was Jude who mentions Enoch!
