Well, for instance, the replacement for the SR71 Blackbird. Here in flyover country, people occasionally see an object going far too fast for conventional aircraft. Yet, the SR71 was top secret until it was decommissioned with a top speed of oh, say Mach 3.5 or so.

Or so? The estimates that I have seen place it at Mach 5.0 or even higher.

Does Boeing, McDonnell-Douglas, et al have anything in the works? What have they already done? I understand that there are eyewitness occurances, but William of Occam had a really sharp point.

Spouse was in the Air Force. He said that the USAF has birds in the air and in process that are always way ahead in technology from the craft already in production.
