Confession is supposed to be once a month. The way it used to happen is that people would line up for confession prior to taking mass.
Yes, we can confess to God, but Catholics believe that the priest can offer absolution through the sacrament.
What do you mean absolution? Didn’t Christ already pay all that needs to be paid and it is in Him we have forgiveness? What more is needed and why?
