Cardinal Schonborn is an ecclesiastical liberal who is good at anticipating the support of Neoconservatives who purchase his books from Ignatius Press and attend his lectures.
Of course, they oblige all of this very well, because he is, after all, a Cardinal, one who doesn’t want to do what he’s told.
So I googled him and see he is pretty young (65) and the descendant of European nobility back to the Holy Roman Empire, which is interesting. Have not heard that he is considered Papabile. If he supports a devotion to the supposed apparition of Medagorge that is not a problem until and if it is condemned, rather than discouraged.
I just do not understand the concern here.
