Good for him. I’m Orthodox and all our clergy wear cassocks. As a matter of fact, most of them wear full beards as well. Exceptions here include some heirarchs who came over in the 60s and did their best to look “American.”
Priests ARE supposed to stand out. The faithful SHOULD be able to spot a priest quickly.
Amen to that!
I am embarassed to admit that I did not know that “Soutane” is the correct term for what I have always called a cassock.
I agree that our religious should stop trying to be “relevant” to the culture; rather, they should set themselves apart from this sordid world as a symbol of what we, their flock, should be aspiring to.
