(UK) Lady Warnock seeks to drive Christianity out of public life
Protect the Pope ^ | 8/27/2010

Lady Warnock’s new book, ‘Dishonest to God: Keeping Religion out of Politics’, asserts that Christian morality should have no role in informing legislation on euthanasia, assisted suicide and abortion.  She rejects as ‘profoundly dangerous’ the long established tradition in these countries of Christianity being the essential foundation of morality.

Mary Warnock seeks to portray all religions in this country as fundamentalist by nature. The publicity from her publisher states:

Many people today are totally indifferent to religion but religion is far from dead. Indeed religions are intensely defended and increasingly aggressively pursued. Religion is a cause for dissension and death. This is beyond dispute.’

Using The Human Rights Act as an example, Lady Warnock argues that Christianity’s role should be replaced by the State, with judges making decisions about moral issues. In her book Warnock seeks to establish the basis of a secular morality.

‘Warnock’s overriding purpose is to prise apart religion and morality. Judges for example are constantly being asked to pass judgement on moral issues in court. Because of The Human Rights Act, the law perforce is involved. Morality is therefore increasingly a public and not just a private matter.’

Mary Warnock concludes by reducing religion to being ‘a source of deep and unique imaginative experience’.

Protect the Pope comment: Hopefully when the Holy Father addresses both Houses of Parliament in Westminster Hall during his state visit he will challenge those, like Lady Warnock who are seeking to restrict Christianity to the private sphere.

Mary Warnock’s judgement about anything to do with morality lacks any credibility in light of the fact that she is largely responsible for the immoral legislation that enables experimentation on embryonic human beings.  Tragically, Lady Warnock is viewed by the establishment and media in this country as one of  ’the’great and the good’. Her narrow-minded ideas about morality and religion will be given a lot of respectful coverage.

Given the Islam is the dominant religion now in the formerly-Great Britain, why is she slaying the Lamb instead of the Lion?

When leftists refer to “religion” it is always and only Christianity. Islam gets a free pass.

"Indeed religions are intensely defended and increasingly aggressively pursued. Religion is a cause for dissension and death. This is beyond dispute.’"

That is particularly true of the Secular Humanist Religion.

Secular Humanism is not outdone even by the Taliban or Wahhabi Muslim sects in terms of demands of conformity and personal attacks against all who dare do otherwise.

I don’t get it. For one, most morals in Christianity aren’t unique to Christianity. Does she propose to ignore a moral stand just because it happens to be reflected in Christianity? Second, if we go back to Roman days around the 400s is she going to complain about the Christians banning the practice of infanticide according to their morals? Before that it was a common practice, the decision to “expose” a newborn (usually because it’s a girl) being a pretty casual one.

This is no accident. For whatever reason, the Left is determined to eradicate the Judeo-Christian religion upon which the West was built. What they are doing is creating a religious vacuum which Islam will be only too happy to fill. These same Seclularists will either be stone cold silent or tacitly “welcoming” as Islam increasingly asserts itself in the public realm. Maybe our Elites have decided that Islam is the ideal religion for controlling the populace?

Whenever an individaul or political party urges me to disregard my morals in order to consider their view, I’m reminded of the warning we teach our children; “If someone tells you not to tell your parents, something is wrong.”

Separating church and state is simpy another way of being told; “Don’t tell your dad”

First these types of people, in the minority, said,

“We just want to be left alone with our beliefs.”

Later on when they corrupted more they said,

“We just want to be acknowledged we exist.”

Later, it became “We just want our voice to be heard.”

Later still as the corruption spread, “We just want equal time for our views, we want debate.”

Further on it became “We just want only our view to be allowed.”

Predictable. Britain’s been gone a long time. They have no idea what they’re in for.

“Religion is a cause for dissension and death. This is beyond dispute.”

I always love it when people start of their argument with high and mighty statements like this. It doesn’t really mean “This is beyond dispute” it really means “If you challenge this statement I will make u look like a bigoted fool and then I will rip your nuts off”.

Not all religious folk are mild mannered sheeple who take this crap lying down. It is amazing that there are so many who do. I think the Lord said “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” and I would add for lack of courage to stand up to upstart little wannabe tyrants such as this woman.

Odd, and yet totally foreseeable that these advocates of aggressive secularity want to "advance the dialog" by pre-emptively disqualifying and silencing most of the people who disagree with them.

"Shut up," she explained.

This was all predicted in 1906 by Robert Hugh Benson in his "Lord of the World" -- Benson couldn't foresee all the technology, but his take on the ideology was practically clairvoyant. Available for under $10 from amazon.com. I recommend it.

Religion is a cause for dissension and death.

Absolute power belonging to fanatics, under a secular or religious government, is a cause for dissention and death. It's the fanaticism, the belief that YOUR ideals or desires are more important than THEIR lives. Whether it manifests behind a secular or religious mask is pretty much an academic debate.

Which would mean that it would be ok to commit an early euthansia intervention or possibly a post birth abortion on her.

Wouldn’t want any of those pesky fundamentalist religious qualms to get in the way...

I just wonder which countries they are going to let continue selling booze, women, pork, kittens, and all the other things that are verbotten in Islam. The elites in the gulf states have decided that Bahrain needed to be reigned in, but they always have Western Europe.

If our ruling class decides that Islam is a great tool for keeping the rest of us down, where in world will THEY go to get their kicks?
