No more mosques in this back yard
The Washington Post ^ | October 3, 2010 | Kathy Lally

IN MOSCOW On Sept. 11 this year, the day protesters were challenging the construction of a mosque two blocks from New York's World Trade Center site, residents of an old industrial neighborhood were on the march in Moscow. They, too, were opposing construction of a mosque. New mosques are so contentious here that none has been built in over a decade. This is a city with perhaps 2 million Muslims, unless you believe it's 500,000, out of a population of 14 million - or 10 million. There are only six mosques, but with one at the Iranian Embassy and two in one place, for Shia and Sunni, maybe there are only four. On this volatile issue in Russia today, every point of view arrives in the company of the opposite. If someone believes more mosques are needed to prevent the swelling numbers of Central Asia immigrants from going astray, someone else believes their construction will nurture terrorism. Into this treacherous landscape march the people of Tekstilshchiki, who live near the city limits where cotton mills long ago gave way to auto factories, with towering apartment buildings arriving over the past few years. Jeans-clad young people, track-suited middle-aged men and carrot-haired pensioners gathered Sept. 11 to defend a ribbon of grass the length of a city block. Volvo bulldozers digging cable lines have left ruts in the grass. Huge slabs of pre-cast reinforced concrete, the Soviet-era building blocks, lay in an untidy pile as if forgotten along with some unfinished five-year plan.

WHAT is WRONG with the NITWITS who run our Christian Churches??????????

Islam is NOT a religion. Its a political system with religious overtones which is committed to world domination.

The Czars would be turning in their graves.

Let me get this right. Are you arguing that we should use the “Czars” (rather than our ancient American traditions of property rights and the first amendment) as our role model??!

By “out of the box” do you mean using the Czars as our role model?

How about Black Jack Pershing instead?

Yes, and my question was the following: do folks here want to use Russia as their role model on this issue? A simple question. Waiting for the answer.

Either use Russia as a role model on this issue or see your country become another Muslim hellhole, take your pick.

The constitution is my role model, not Czarist Russia. If we go down the road you recommend, there is nothing left to defend.

islam is not a religion. It's an odious political philosophy every bit as ugly and dangerous as Nazism. It is not protected by the 1st Amendment.

Period.

I’m sorry but all sorts of “odious” philosophies are protected by the first amendment included socialism, Nazism, Communism, and Obamaism. The first amendment does not make distinctions. If you don’t like that, either move to Russia or propose a constitutional amendment.

What isn't protected by the 1st is any call to murder or enslave people who don't believe in your religion. Period. The Courts have held that time and time again.

You're wrong.

That’s just it, we’re not using the Constitution.

The Constitution guarantees freedom of religion while the Koran clearly states that all religions must be subdued. Giving Islam the status of a religion will remove the rights of all other non-Muslim religions and will be unconstitutional because of statements made in Koranic law.

Is that what you want?

Again, if true, the same exact objection applies to Marxism which rejectes ALL relgion as the opiate of the people. Would you also deny Marxists consitutional rights on that basis? If you were reasonably consistent, you'd have to be. Please answer the question and state your justification for an apparent double standard.

Oh....since you are so convinced on this issue presumably you are against the Iraq War which resulted in the imposition of Sharia in that formerly secular country and led to the cleansing of nearly half the Christian population.

Okay, let's get specific. Would you also deny Marxists free speech? They not only reject a specific religion but all religion.

Marxism is not a religion. That we allow it to be freely practiced is just part of our desire to self-destruct. How could we have fought the Cold War and at the same time allow communism to fester at home? I don’t know, ask guvmint.

How can we send our troops to fight Islam and at the same time allow Muslim immigration? I don’t know ask our wise guvmint. I agree with you — Christians had it better under Sadam Hussein than under the present regime.

We fight Islam in the Middle East and we protected it by fighting Christianity in the Balkans under Clinton. As a token of its appreciation they fly planes into the WTC and into other places. Then we turn around, put on kneepads, kiss their asses and build them washbasins. Makes any sense? I don’t know, ask guvmint.

And when you ask guvmint all these questions, ask them what they think of the Constitution.

I certainly agree with you that it is silly to persecute Christians at home and then also subsidize Muslims. My solution would be to end the subsidies and get government out of it. Muslims represent a tiny percentage of the U.S. population. I have faith that they will fail in the marketplace of ideas.

.
They’re increasing in numbers exponentially — they may fail in the marketplace of ideas (they have always failed in the marketplace of ideas but their faith is spread by the sword and not by the free market, wake up!) but we are giving them privileges we don’t give other religions. Their philosophy should not be constitutionally protected because, by doing so, we remove the protection of other religions that are beneficial to society. Islam is not.

Again, the same applies to Marxists. They aren't "beneficial" either and there numbers are much, much greater. If you are consistent, you'll ban them too. BTW, how do you intend to punish people who want to practice Islam? Jail? Midnight raids on worshipers? Burning Korans?
