The False Prophets of Optimism

Conservative leaders and their followers are absolutely fired up about a promising 2010 victory and are anxiously awaiting the elections this fall. Conservative leaders and their base are also touting that they can see the light at the end of the "Big Government" tunnel and are very optimistic and jazzed. Though we should be excited about what may transpire this fall we should not be putting all our optimistic eggs into this cankering basket. What we will be witnessing in a future 2010 victory are the last struggling convulsions of a nation on the precipice of total collapse.

The absolute reality is that the conservative, optimistic ideal cannot support the excessive weight of the current crises and realities at hand. This fact must be recognized and accepted by the conservative right in this country. Today's social crises are reaching epidemic proportions - both nationally and globally. The good intentions and well wishes of the humanly flawed anticipation that is "conservative optimism" has had its place in the past, but now in light of the global climate affected by ever-increasing human depravity, it is but a “spider’s web” of hope (Job 8:14). My I ask this sobering question, "What is able to harness the unbridled passions of fallen humanity (i.e., the opening of “Pandora’s Box" in the Garden of Eden), once they are unleashed, and what can subdue them and place them back into their pre-fallen state?"

It is my hopes and prayers that America will stand until Jesus returns, after that I want God’s reality, no longer will I be interested in political realities which either lie to achieve goals, concrete the earth to have wealth, or fight wars to obtain economic stability, I see America as the lesser of evils in the arena of thought from fallen man..

Whether or not he is right about armageddon, the author is 100% correct about this Humpty Dumpty that the Republicans are promising to put back together. They will fail unless they propose and implement a complete government overhaul.

It’s completely unlikely in 6 years to get this job done as it took nearly 100 years to get where we are now ... a disaster.

There are other solutions to this problem, like starting over with a new government. The framing fathers suggested it strongly because they knew that in order for a nation to remain strong, it must re-invent itself periodically. Sad to say there is such an impasse between the two groups in this nation, the traditionalists and the progressives, that it’s going to be next to impossible to do so without armed conflict. A corrupt governing body makes it even harder.

Far be it from me to throw raw meat into the lion's den, but:
In the daily exercise of our pastoral office, we sometimes have to listen, much to our regret, to voices of persons who, though burning with zeal, are not endowed with too much sense of discretion or measure. In these modern times they can see nothing but prevarication and ruin. They say that our era, in comparison with past eras, is getting worse, and they behave as though they had learned nothing from history, which is, none the less, the teacher of life. They behave as though at the time of former Councils everything was a full triumph for the Christian idea and life and for proper religious liberty.

We feel we must disagree with those prophets of gloom, who are always forecasting disaster, as though the end of the world were at hand.

In the present order of things, Divine Providence is leading us to a new order of human relations which, by men's own efforts and even beyond their very expectations, are directed toward the fulfilment of God's superior and inscrutable designs. And everything, even human differences, leads to the greater good of the Church.
- Pope John XXIII, October 11, 1962 Address inaugurating the Second Vatican Council
Even taken out of context that central paragraph was the shot that launched the revolution. It is possibly the single most catastrophic sentence in modern history. It was with that sentence that the whole Catholic world lost its mind and took everyone else along for the ride. That's a huge oversimplification of course, but it's also fundamentally true. From the local parishes to the universities everyone flipped out and beheld "The New Springtime". Since then the popes have "failed" to recognize that there are bad people in the world. From the conclusion of that same speech:
such is the aim of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, which, while bringing together the Church's best energies and striving to have men welcome more favorably the good tidings of salvation, prepares, as it were and consolidates the path toward that unity of mankind which is required as a necessary foundation, in order that the earthly city may be brought to the resemblance of that heavenly city where truth reigns, charity is the law, and whose extent is eternity (Cf. St. Augustine, Epistle 138, 3).
I know it must drive non-Catholics crazy, but this one is pretty much our fault. Uh... sorry about that.

If people like you would quit preaching that Jesus is about to come back and fix everything for us, then matybe good people would still be trying to improve this world instead of sitting on the sidelines.

You can believe that Armaggeddon is just around the corner but here’s a prediction for you: we will all be arond to see BO lose his re-electiion bid. Helping the cause would be better than opoerating as the Prophet of Doom.

That is true and I see your point... but the Kingdom of Heaven which will be ruled by Christ and established at his second coming will far exceed America. let that truth comfort your heart as it has mine.

Check out these verses if you would like

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

2And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

3And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

4But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

5And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

6The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

7And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

8And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den.

9They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

10And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious

God is the one that said it would be and the message is not a popular one.

It is far easier to go down hill than back up it. Not to sound fatalist but it is an absolute impossibility. Our culture and society are ravished beyond compare. Fiscal conservatism can not fix that. Only Christ's second coming will (Rev 19:11-21).

That is such utter nonsense. It’s not over until He says it is, not when you say it is. THEY haven’t won anything, nor will they. If you read the end of a certain Book, you know that we win.

Now pick up your weapon and keep fighting.

My friend... good (absolutely perfect) in who's eyes? You and I can compare our selves with each other as human to human. But who can stand before the Absolute Righteous perfection of Almighty God? That there… is a whole other animal.

The Bible teaches that ALL have sinned (Romans 3:23). God stated that our Righteousness are as filthy rages (Isaiah 64:6) (menstrual rags of blood).

Things have never been this exponential and at a global fever pitch as are today.

My friend, You have to see outside of the worldly box with a Biblical eternal perspective and not with a temporal then you will see that we are not nuts... lol

May God bless you.

My Friend, I remember what I was taught and stated every Sunday mass as a former young Catholic.

Our Father which art (dwells) in Heaven, Holy is thy Name. Thy KINGDOM COME, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Also… Christ has died, Christ has risen, CHRIST WILL COME AGAIN!

Also...He has ascended in to Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father, He will COME AGAIN in GLORY TO JUDGE THE LIVING AND THE DEAD AND HIS KINGDOM WILL HAVE NO END...

My friend, no offence but you are ignorant of the biblical fig tree with it’s leaves a showing... Christ second coming is NEVER taught in the Catholic church. They may quote it as I did for 24 years but it wasn’t until I read it in Almighty God’s Word that I saw it is the toal theme of the New Tesiment. The Day is at hand my friend.

May you choose to objectivly look outside of this world’s temporal box and see things from Almighty God’s eternal perspective and then you will see! Mostly all of God’s messengers were NOT well received, chief of these was Christ.

May God Bless my friend!

Sir, I NEVER have put down my weapon... but one can evaluate the battle field and see that we are at the Alamo..

One must see beyond the defeat of the Alamo to the Kingdom of Heaven to have the right perception!

Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. (2 Timothy 2:3-4)

The battle is the Lord's!

With my complements,

We’ve heard this argument many times before. Trust in the Lord means to walk in his footsteps. Jesus knew he was going to die, but continued to profess his undying love for humanity.

We should do the same and never give up on our brothers and sisters. This means vigilant prayer. And when God gives us the answer we need, just like the great Patriots received in 1776, miraculous things occur.

The very fact people are fighting to hang on, continue to worship, and keep moving forward means there is always hope. God never gave up on Nineveh. And neither should we.

So, what’s it going to be? God, or Jonah?

I'm not entirely sure what your response has to do with what I posted but oh well.

You forgot "...as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ."

That line from the revised "Deliver us Lord" and the memorial acclamation you cited (...Christ will come again) are part of the new rite of the Roman Mass. If you're saying what I think you're saying (and I admit, I'm not sure) WHY would the Catholic Church have been teaching the Second Coming 200, 500, 1000, 1500, 1750, 2000 years ago (let's not fiddle with dates, just pick one of those as when you think the Catholic Church started and leave it at that) as something people needed to be ready for when it clearly hasn't happened yet?

Regardless, the point I was making is the mindless optimism (and I use that term with trepidation) that seems to regard all men as well intentioned was launched by Pope John XXIII and spread immediately into the Catholic world and from there flowed into the civil societies populated by Catholics. Although how "we're all nice people now" squares with a bullet proof popemobile I'm not entirely sure, I don't think they're thinking it all the way through.

The Catholic Church will preach the Second Coming when it's time, and maybe you need to consider that in the revised rite of Mass for the Church in the West there are indications of that which were not present prior to 50 years ago.

Do you understand what I'm saying here? There's no decent reason to preach the end of the world to people who wouldn't live to see it, that just gets people all worked up over something that doesn't actually have anything to do with their lives on this earth. To the point: it takes the focus off their own end and turns into a constant replay of the boy who cried wolf.

We, at least in the United States, have been subjected to a never ending "end of the world" cacophony since at least the mid 70s and two generations have died without it happening. How effect do you think "No wait, THIS time we really mean it" is going to be? You MIGHT contemplate who is behind all the noise what with prophecy after prophecy and prediction after prediction all having been false.

Beyond that though, people are dying today, did die yesterday and will die tomorrow for whom the Second Coming is/was and will be practically irrelevant in the sense of the consummation of the entire world but their own world has come to an end and for that ending they must be prepared.

Very few really wish to believe that these are the end times. It was easier by far when I was a young, single believer. Now I have offspring and am closing in on retirement; I wish the Lord would tarry and let me die of old age whittling on the porch.

While we watch and wait, and “strengthen the things that remain” life goes on and souls meet eternity.

The Cross and the Flag may soon diverge permanently.

Why is the glass 'half full' in reference to your outlook? Jesus was not a pessimist, nor was he a quitter. He instilled faith in his followers. He and is followers knew they could be killed, and actually were, for having their faith in Him and our Lord God. They are being killed now all over this planet by radical Islamics whilst liberals and the godless are humored.

Bloody or not, we are in for the fight of our lives, politically and spiritually. Most of us know this, that is, the true conservative believers. We are ready to die for our cause and our country. Bring on the evil doers and their Godless liberal factions and we will show them a new 'Crusades'.

Evil only flourishes when good men do nothing. We are beginning to summon our swordsmen on November 2nd, and it may take more election cycles and political cleansing from thereon. The sleeping giant is becoming more awake as we speak. God bless America.

Simple, just go back to the ROOTS of this society, the Declaration, the Consitution, and yes, the Jewish/Christian heritage.

That was my point, nothing that man conceives or does is perfect, only with God’s reality can we truly be fulfilled, and in that day we will no longer need governments, the law is written on our hearts..we see the result of our sins, and will truly understand what they are, not some concept that man approves today and disapproves tomorrow...a life with our Father through Christ, the ultimate goal..to me a glimpse of this reality is seen in Christ prayer, Father make them one in me as I am one in you..to be one in God..Holy is your name Lord!!!!Thanks you...
