I’ve heard Sam speak. I have spoken to several people who move about as free as you can in Iran and other areas of the middle east. They say it takes about 10 minutes of evangalizing to get the men and women they talk to profess a faith in Jesus as savior. There is a hunger for Jesus in places like Iran that has never been greater.
I had the chance to listen to Joel Rosenberg in church last month. Believe it, or not, but they have established a Christian Radio Station in northern Iraq that is broadcasting now.
BTW -- run, don't walk, to your library and check out the Iranian movie The Color of Paradise. It is an unforgettable meditation on what the generations owe each other, and how a venal, corrupt older generation tries in vain to "wash its hands" of the guilt it lives with. Take note, in particular, of which two characters are permitted to "see" the face of God.
