The American Sikh community has said that President Barack Obama is not visiting the Golden Temple in Amritsar because he harbours fears of negative image fallout with him being partially Muslim by birth.
Refusing to buy the White House explanation that India is a huge country and that it would not be possible for the president to take on too many events during his four-day visit from November 6 to 9, American Sikhs said they could not accept such a view.
"I'm not really buying it. I think the administration has been struggling with the false accusation that the president is Muslim. It is not out of the realm of possibility that these fears drove the cancellation. The administration is going to have to figure out how to make this up to the Sikh American community and the Sikh community worldwide," Politico quoted Sapreet Kaur, the executive director of the Sikh Coalition, as saying in a statement.
"If somebody doesn't want to come, then they should not come for the right reasons and not hide behind these sort of excuses," added Jasjit Singh, the associate executive director of the Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund.
He added: "He's playing the game, and that's what's unfortunate."
"It would have been a huge moment, a seminal moment, for President Obama to come there and kind of show to the world that this is a vibrant religious minority here," said Hansdeep Singh, an attorney for United Sikhs.
"It is disappointing," he added.
An official familiar with the visit said the discussion about Obama's itinerary started six months ago, but that changes can be made for any number of reasons.
Singh said of Obama. "By canceling his visit, what does he do? He's emboldening those who are seeking to divide us."
Hansdeep Singh said the United Sikhs would "continue to push" Obama to visit Sikh shrines in the United States and abroad.
"We want to have a continuing dialogue with the White House," he said.
Maybe it’s Sikh /sarc.
He would have to wear a turban to enter the shrine, thus depicting him as a “raghead”.
Even foreigners can “smell it”, can pick up these lies and obfuscations from the White House from 1,000 meters or more.

Look, I’m certainly no fan of this administration, but these people really need to get over themselves. This entitlement/Im so easily offended mindset has gotten old. Grow up!
After all the security information being leaked back about this trip, the Administration is really between a rock and a hard place. It is one of the dam*ed if you and dam*ed if you don't situations.
There is no such thing as, being partially Muslim by birth. The press can say such things in the American hyphenated culture, but in India they realize this is a false statement. One cannot claim to be partially Muslim by birth.

no, you do not have to wear a turban to enter the Golden Temple or any Sikh gurudwara. You need to cover your head — most who enter the Temple just tie a handkerchief on their head. Obama could even wear a Jewish Yarmullke and the Sikh’s would be ok — but would Obhabha be happy with that?

Sikhs are confused as being Muslim. They are not. A quick google search can reveal the differences. Apparently, while Sikhism includes Muslim tenets, it also includes Hindu beliefs as well.

But according to the Holy Bible, and to Holy Tradition, if one believes in our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, and is baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one is a Christian. It would not matter if one were a male direct descendant of Muhammad, and a former imam.
Unfortunately, I highly doubt that obama was baptized at all, or that Wright’s “church” (which teaches “black nationalism”, not the Holy Gospel) can make anyone a Christian. And obama supports the muslims and islamic world conquest in many ways, and at all times.
obama is a muslim, who practices taqiyya to pretend to be a Christian. But his disguise is very thin indeed, so that every muslim knows that he is one of them!!!!
THAT´S THE REASON. HE´S MUSLIM. IT WOULD BE SACRILEGE.
