In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

I asked you for the essential scriptures that you bleated about. You post slogans and not Scripture. May I assume that once again, you pass the Reformational exam but you fail Christianity 101?

In case you hadn’t noticed, not only do these verses not apply to Pope John Paul II, but he was hated by non Christians, including including various televangelists here, by the Rev. Ian Paisley, by the Muslims, by the popular press, and by most of the non Christians that practice sham Christianity right here. Thank you for making my point for me with your post.

You gotta be kidding me mark?? The WORLD morned the loss of the koran , ground kissing , Pope.

The World morns death of pope

World mourns loss of pope, celebrates his life

All over TV people were applauding his "work " The darkness loves it own ...

Those are the doctrines that come from the scriptures Mark, I know that is foreign to Catholics but that is how we do it..

Your last post was 4635. By your own admission you are a failed Catholic and have rejected the teachings of Christ in favour of those of your own choosing.

I admitted no such thing that you've accused me of. I have not said that I do not believe in the Christian God. That is a lie and only done by twisting my words and manipulating definitions.

On the contrary, I go right to the source, Scripture.

Rejecting Catholicism does not equate to rejecting Christianity or rejecting Christ.

I reject the teachings of men superseding the teachings of Christ right out of the Bible.

The Catholic church claims to be built on Scripture and that it even wrote Scripture. Why are we then castigated for going back to the writings that the Catholic church claims responsibility for?

If it's good enough for the Catholic church it's good enough for the individual believer. Jesus came to save people, not organizations.

Many thanks for the demonic hatred. More Christian fail.

You post to me a link to an article from tiny and relatively anonymous Cabrini College by a first time poster on that forum, and another from the Ironton (Ohio) (wherever that is) Tribune about how the world mourned the loss of the 'koran, ground kissing' Pope. Two great bastions of knowledge and information. You fail here too.

All over TV people were applauding his "work " The darkness loves it own ...

What people? The ones who had spent his entire tenure spitting venom at him?

Yes, life is so much easier when you can pick and choose what to believe and not believe,.....

You would know more about that. God's word doesn't change. It doesn't allow for picking and choosing. WE'RE not the ones that think there's error in it.

....and have no repercussions or responsibilities for your beliefs and actions.

Another lie since no one ever claimed that.

You guys must sleep like babies every night tucked into your Reformational security blankets.

Yup

Ephesians 4:29-31 29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.

RN-””We do not believe that we are saved by faith in FAITH.. we believe we are saved by CHRIST ...by grace THROUGH faith...not a church, or a doctrine, or sacraments , or works .when one has faith in Christ HE is the fulfillment of that faith.. or the fullness of faith””

Actually, you believe you are saved by doing nothing. Thus, it can even give someone a reason to exude hatred towards others on religion forums and it all means nothing because convincing oneself your guaranteed heaven gives someone a license not to act like Christ at all,so you end up acting like the dualistic zeus like God instead

RN-””II will note again the Catholic magisterium.. has NEVER written a complete commentary of the scriptures....I suspect it is because they know that to do that would blow their false doctrine out of the water ..””

Nonsense, the Catechism is complete in what the Scriptures all mean and How to live a Christian life.

Protestants have so many commentaries of Scripture opposite of each other that it is ridiculous and delusional to think you have a united faith.

RN-””I do not think you are his brother or the brother of any of the saved protestants here.. the term brother and sister are terms we tie to our faith and being brothers and sisters IN CHRIST .””

I consider this response demonic and evil.Thankfully I know that all protestant do not feel this way

“”The “church fathers” often did not agree with each other, were often heretical in some of their thinking and , unlike the word of God were not infallible””

The Church fathers who ended up canonized Saints always ended up conforming to Church teach eventially even when they went off track from time to time. They were obedient to the Faith!

When you say the word of God is infallible what you are saying is it is only infallible to how YOU interpret it, thus it is really you who thinks YOU ARE infallible. That is the cold hare truth, like it or not!

“”If we are correct and Catholics misread the last passover.. the adoration you attend is adoration of a false god and idol.. it is blasphemy to God””

I’m 100% positive you’re not correct, especially since many prayers have been answered along with many miracles through Adoration that is all Glory to Christ.

I really wish you would stop posting me because I really feel an evil presence around you-and I don’t say that lightly either

"Show us where hatred of Jews is embodied in Protestant *dogma*."

Had I accused you of lying some old anti-Catholic bag would have issued me an unofficial warning while at the same time reporting an abuse. Looks like you chose the right target for your invective to avoid any such intervention.

It didn't say antisemitism was part of Protestant dogma, I was using the inconsistent between the absence of it in contradiction to Luther's teachings as an example of Protestant duplicity. The point I was making was that believing Luther, and the other fathers of the Reformation, is a hit or miss proposition. Making it, like the Protestant proclamations on the relative importance and interpretation of Scripture a personal choice.

The bottom line is that there was nothing divine or special about Luther. He was a political pawn whose primary mission was not "reforming" the Church, but rather giving cover to those who coveted the accumulated wealth and property of the Church. In that he was successful.

"since when do Catholics think that Protestants have dogma?"

Dogma is nothing more than a doctrine or a corpus of doctrines relating to matters such as morality and faith, set forth in an authoritative manner by a church. The major branches of Protestantism do indeed have dogma. What you, on the other hand appear to have is closer to a "gestalt".

The Theotokos has never been worshiped. She is venerated, above all other creatures, but venerated, not worshiped. This seems to be a regular misunderstanding on FR

Kolo mou, everything you say about Theotokos, her humility, her pointing to Christ, etc. is true, but I am sorry to say this, we all also know that the Orthodox chant "Theotokos, save us."

And you know that I vehemently complained way back about people doing metania at the mention of her name (but not even bow at the mention of God), and that no one, among the clergy, ever corrected them, and I thought it an abomination and a scandal.

There is a Marian cult that subsists in the life of the Church, even if the Church stubbornly refuses to acknowledge it. It is wrong, it is heretical and it is pagan, and the Church refuses to stop it.

It is evident in the way people "venerate" her, and in the way the Church prays to her, asking her to "save" us. It's not veneration; it's adoration not only in the manner but in words as well.

"But aren't we all commanded to judge ourselves for fitness and standing before God before we partake of the Lord's Supper/Eucharist? How can a Catholic partake if he judges himself as anything other than presumptively saved?"

FK, we can never be worthy except through Christ to receive the Eucharist. And we should never, ever, be so prideful as to believe that we are "worthy" to approach the sacred Mysteries. We never judge ourselves "presumptively saved". Here is what we Orthodox pray immediately before receiving communion:

"I believe and confess, Lord, that You are truly the Christ, the Son of the living God, who came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first. I also believe that this is truly Your pure Body and that this is truly Your precious Blood. Therefore, I pray to You, have mercy upon me, and forgive my transgressions, voluntary and involuntary, in word and deed, known and unknown. And make me worthy without condemnation to partake of Your pure Mysteries for the forgiveness of sins and for eternal life. Amen

How shall I, who am unworthy, enter into the splendor of Your saints? If I dare to enter into the bridal chamber, my clothing will accuse me, since it is not a wedding garment; and being bound up, I shall be cast out by the angels. In Your love, Lord, cleanse my soul and save me.

Loving Master, Lord Jesus Christ, my God, let not these holy Gifts be to my condemnation because of my unworthiness, but for the cleansing and sanctification of soul and body and the pledge of the future life and kingdom. It is good for me to cling to God and to place in Him the hope of my salvation. Receive me today, Son of God, as a partaker of Your mystical Supper. I will not reveal Your mystery to Your adversaries. Nor will I give You a kiss as did Judas. But as the thief I confess to You: Lord, remember me in Your Kingdom."

Amen! The "security blanket" of God's word.

God "giveth His beloved sleep."

Your posts screams of someone not knowing how God works to get this will fulfilled on earth. Catholics are so man centered through indoctrination it makes them blinded to the things of God. The result of catechism and all the RCC’s man made doctrines/traditions that nullify God’s Word.

Ridicule is all you have. I have God’s Word. Trying to trump God’s Word, from where we learn Who He is, and how He accomplishes His will on His earth, just will not happen.

Remember - the gates of hell shall not prevail. And there is no such thing as infallibility for man. Another sacred cow for Catholics to kill. It must be your favorite pet, you seem to ride it often as evident in your post.

Are you sure you want to go there? Probably hundreds of posts where some have been lying. Twisting words is deceitful - from the master of lies. Manipulating someone else's words for one's own agenda is nothing new here.

""Theotokos, save us.""

Indeed we do chant exactly that. And you have complained about it in the past. You also know what the chant means and that it doesn't mean "save us" in the sense that Christ saves us. It is a plea that she pray for us that we be kept safe from danger, spiritual and physical, here on earth. Personally, I have never met an Orthodox Christian who believes otherwise, though perhaps you have.

"And you know that I vehemently complained way back about people doing metania at the mention of her name (but not even bow at the mention of God), and that no one, among the clergy, ever corrected them, and I thought it an abomination and a scandal.

I have never seen anyone do a metania at the mention of her name, though I certainly have seen it before her icons, and the icons of other saints for that matter. Perhaps what you have seen is a Slavic practice; maybe the actions of someone afflicted with "crazy convert disease"? Not bowing at the mention of God is scandalous, as much for the Latins as it is for us.

"It's not veneration; it's adoration not only in the manner but in words as well.

We will have to disagree on this one, Kosta mou.

It's time to get off of your high riding cow, telling a poster what you want them to do - shows a controlling spirit. What the RCC is all about - control, manipulation.

One in bondage has NO control of one that is free! A little concept Catholics don't get. Seems Catholics learned nothing from Luther - he broke from that bondage! And so DID I. Thank You, JESUS!
