In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

Oh Metmom this is just too funny!

The "Other Catholic Churches" recognize the Papacy and are in full communion with Rome, The "Eastern Orthodox" do not.

You can't even make a souffle out of these scrambled eggs.

It is usually a good idea to understand the post you are responding to, before making a response.

Really? When did you learn it was a good idea? Obviously after, the post you just HAD to respond to me on because you took offense. I had to tell you what you were accusing me of saying were not my words but it was part of the Scripture.

That's a whole lot different than keeping up with different liturgy of churches that are all under one roof. What a deceptive mess!

Are you commenting on things you know nothing about? What would you know about inspired?

When I see Catholics posting Scripture I laugh. Scripture means nothing to them as they dabble in it and use it only to fit into man made teachings/doctrine and ‘their own understanding’.

“Thus you nullify the Word of God by your tradition that you have handed down..” Mark 7:13

They already nullified God’s Word and that shows their lack of love for God’s Word. The very words they will be judged on. I think it would be safe to say, not only is love lacking for God’s Word, so are brains in the catholic community.

Kosta mou, save for the fact that Serbs picked up most (but not all) of their bad habits from the Greeks, there's no accounting for what you folks on the other side of the mountains do! :)

"Look, this is no different than "Trinity" icons depicting God the Father as a very old man, or "Old Man Time" icons depicting Father/Christ as a very old man, that are allowed to subsist in Orthodox churches."

I suppose not, heretical practices like doing metanias at the mere mention of Panagia and using pictures of the Trinity or Christ with old men in them are inappropriate. That the priest did not instruct the old lady is a shame but you and I both know that that was his call. As for the Trinity pictures, well, I'd like to see a couple of them gone from my parish but I was the only "old timer" to want that, so I commissioned, from a Syrianitsa, a Holy Trinity icon which is prominent in the narthex of our church. There's not much else I can do at least for now. I do not believe, however, that chanting "Υπεραγια Θεοτοκε, σοσον ημας", knowing full well what we are talking about, is heretical. Kosta mou, I have been, like you, chanting that all my life and it never occurred to me that I was, or would be thought to be, asking her to do for me what Christ does until a convert asked me about it a few years ago.

"They do and they don't. All at the same time."

The problem is that here on FR, and in the West generally, the term "Catholic" is taken to mean only the Roman Catholic Church and usually those particular other churches whose hierarchs are in communion with the Pope. It is an incorrect use of the term. The Orthodox Churches are equally "Catholic" but since the Pope of Rome went into schism with the then other 4 Patriarchs of The One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church in the 11th century, Rome has claimed for itself the name "Catholic". We obviously don't agree but it is the convention here on FR. BTW, you protestants really ought to be nicer to the Latins; after all, they really were the first "protestants" when they made changes in the theology and ecclesiology of The Church and when the rest of The Church wouldn't go along, they went off on their own. You came by your rebelliousness honestly. :)

I think your level of catechisis and theological understanding is not the level of an average parishioner, Kolo mou.

PS BTW, the vocative case ending in Slavonic for "Υπεραγια Θεοτοκε" is also "e" (Пресветая Богородице). I wonder if that is by coincidence or by design.

This post is just accusative, and not informative.

It also paints an inaccurate, false picture of Catholics—especially those who post to explain and honor their Faith on this Forum.

This is what makes these “exchanges” eventually become meaningless and repetitive.

Again, he was Holy Spirit inspired.

So he acted infallibly when he determined the canon of Scripture?

If yes, then you believe in "Sola Luthera."

You know, I was going to say in my previous post that Catholics and Protestants can at least agree upon the fact that Luther was fallible. But I guess I was wrong.

Those are the doctrines that come from the scriptures Mark, I know that is foreign to Catholics but that is how we do it..

What is foreign to Catholic doctrine is lying. You said that you had essential scripture. When I asked you to produce it, you instead posted slogans and no scripture at all. When I challenged you on this, this is your reply. I am forced to conclude that your original posting was merely propaganda, and that your posts, like the doctrines that you espouse, are just so much hot air.

Your last post was 4635. By your own admission you are a failed Catholic and have rejected the teachings of Christ in favour of those of your own choosing.

I admitted no such thing that you've accused me of. I have not said that I do not believe in the Christian God. That is a lie and only done by twisting my words and manipulating definitions.

I don't care if you openly admit it; you have demonstrated very adequately that you do not believe in the God of Christianity.

The Catholic church claims to be built on Scripture and that it even wrote Scripture. Why are we then castigated for going back to the writings that the Catholic church claims responsibility for?

You aren't. You are castigated for hideously erroneous interpretations of Scripture. St. Paul is a venerated Apostle and stands in the Church as does St. Peter. You guys have twisted and manipulated him into a demiurge resembling Islam and not Christianity at all.

If it's good enough for the Catholic church it's good enough for the individual believer. Jesus came to save people, not organizations.

Jesus built that organization that you are opposed to. Jesus came to save people via that organization, not by Billy Bob Rolex's organization, or by those in their very own LaZBoy chair of self worship.

Who are the ones rebelling?

"Thus you nullify the Word of God by your tradition that you have handed down.." Mark 7:13

Who are blessed?

Luke 11:28 He replied, "Blessed rather are those who HEAR the WORD of God and OBEY it."

Hear what? The Word of God, nothing else. And not just hear but obey it. Obey 'IT', not a substitute.

Yes, life is so much easier when you can pick and choose what to believe and not believe,.....

You would know more about that. God's word doesn't change. It doesn't allow for picking and choosing. WE'RE not the ones that think there's error in it.

Yeah? There is one Catechism, and 33,000 or however many Protestant beliefs. Try to justify that on the picking and choosing accusation. Tell me that the Oneness Pentecostals have anything other than a few names (not definitions) in common with the Church of England. Go on, give it a try...

You guys must sleep like babies every night tucked into your Reformational security blankets. Yup

Ephesians 4:29-31 29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.

And once again, you guys don't get what seal means. It is not a ziplock baggie; it is a mark of a signet ring. It is a promise from God to us; it is not a guarantee of the outcome since we can walk away from Him and refuse His promises to us.

Wonderful. We speak of Christ and you give us Psalms as your entire evidence. We know that you guys don’t get Paul at all; now we see that there is no Christ in your Christianity.
